From the Principal’s Desk

School Holidays Term 3 concludes at the end of the school day on Friday, 27 September. I wish all children, parents and staff a most enjoyable holiday - realising that some people will have holidays and others will be working. For the children school resumes on Tuesday, 15 October. Staff will be at school for a Professional Development Day on the Monday (14 October) - students will not attend on this day. P & C Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Despite some inclement weather, several parents helped at Bunnings on High Road Willetton last Saturday morning. Other parents donated tomato sauce, mustard sauce and drinks. Mr Chris Patman organised the roster to the “state of perfection” and the hungry shoppers were satisfied. Approximately $800 was raised and these fundraising moneys are a great boost to the school. Thankfully, due in large part to the P & C over the years, Bull Creek Primary School is among some of the best resourced schools in the State. Tim Cremin

How can you help your child?

Parents’ role in Our Friendly School

Research has demonstrated that efforts to change attitudes and behaviour of students are more likely to be successful if parents are actively involved and feel a sense of shared ownership of the process. What can parents do to support activities in the school to reduce bullying? • Talk regularly with your children about bullying; • Encourage your children to ‘ask for help’ if they are being

bullied at school; • If your children are fighting at home, help them discuss

their problem and come to a mutual solution to the problem;

• Encourage your children to be assertive by helping them practise speaking in a firm but friendly way, making eye contact, looking calm and smiling and feeling good about themselves;

• Encourage your children to play with other children at school, at home and in the neighbourhood; and

• Help your children improve their self-esteem by discussing the things they are good at, encouraging your children to ‘have-a-go’ at new activities, and encouraging your children to develop their own independence by allowing them to care for their belongings or manage their pocket money.

Rossmoyne Swimming Club is a club that focuses on fun, fitness and confidence.

Located at Lynwood Senior High School in a 25m outdoor pool. Training is available 3

days per week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

A minimum requirement of participation is Education Department Swimming Level 5 or

must be able to complete 25m freestyle. The season commences Monday 21st

October.
