BULL CREEK PRIMARY SCHOOL
WATER
Bull Creek is a water wise school so B4 thought it was the perfect topic to educate the school about. So what is water? Water is a wet substance made up of three molecules, two molecules of Hydrogen and one of Oxygen (H2O). Water can be found in all three states of matter, solids, liquids and gases. The solid form of water is ice. The molecules in ice are tightly compacted forcing the molecules to stay upright. There’s nothing to explain about liquid because the liquid form of water… IS WATER!!!!! Lastly the gaseous form of water is steam. The molecules in steam are free-flowing and very bouncy. Next up is what we use water for; we use water more than we think whether it’s for drinking, bathing, swimming or even hydro-electricity. You may be thinking, what is hydro-electricity? Well, hydro-electricity is quite simple; you force water through a turbine causing force to generate electricity. When you take a sip of water you could be drinking the water that the dinosaurs roamed around in or the holy water from an ancient church, because every single drop of water in this planet has been through the water cycle. The water cycle begins in the ocean and then the heat of the sun causes the water to evaporate and turn into water vapour. The water vapour then rises into the sky and forms together as clouds. When the clouds get too heavy they fall as precipitation or rain. The rain falls on to the earth and runs off back into the ocean restarting the water cycle.

So I hope all the teams continue to try hard and be good ambassadors for our school. Immunisation information for families with children enrolling in pre-primary or year 1 in 2017 The Western Australian Department of Health is undertaking an awareness campaign to remind parents to have their child’s immunisations up-to-date before starting school. To ensure children are protected against vaccine preventable diseases, the immunisation rate of the children in the community should be 95%. Currently in WA, immunisation rates are 91%, thus providing an opportunity for the transmission of a vaccine preventable disease in any unimmunised child. e.g. measles Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter and your continued support and assistance.
