Rigorous testingAs well as being thoroughly tested under long-term exposure conditions, our products are rigorously tested by TÜV SÜD Product Service, an independent product testing company that ensures our storage cabinets demonstrate the highest standards of safety, reliability and compliance. In addition, we have enlisted the help of Bristol University in further rigorous product testing. Tests involve exposing Jo Bird cabinets to cyclone-speed winds and extremes of high and low temperature (as cold as -50ºC), as well as tests against water ingress at low and high pressure.

SOS Range - minimum of 3 years guaranteeWe have a wide range of off-the-shelf cabinets and chests in our warehouse for immediate despatch. These products are manufactured from specially formulated materials that have excellent tolerance to high and low temperatures plus high resistance to impacts, so are ideally suited to marine environments.

Exacting standards of manufactureManufactured in the UK Somerset factory, where we use advanced manufacturing techniques and the very best materials and construction methods. All our products are available in highly UV-resistant internationally recognised colours, and cabinets in special colours can be made to order. Product features include robust, easy-access door openings and handles, plus high-performance corrosion-resistant door hinges, which are secured with 316 stainless steel nuts and bolts rather than rivets, which are favoured by most of our competitors. Anti-tamper seals can also be included, along with perspex windows for ease of contents identification. Mounting features can allow for left-handed or right-handed opening.

Offshore cabinets

When keeping safe near water is a priority, make sure your equipment is protected with Jo Bird cabinets.

Giving you the assurance of ultimate protection against hostile marine environments, our maritime equipment chests and cabinets are produced from robust composites, comprising premium-quality Lloyds-approved gelcoats, resins and glass for durability and longevity. The gelcoats have UV inhibitors to minimise fading.

Our lifejacket immersion suit chests are available in small, standard, medium and large sizes. If you require an alternative size or colour, we can produce a bespoke product. Our life vest cabinets contain built-in inflatable lifejacket hangers, or they can be fitted with shelves to enable bagged automatic lifejackets or foam filled lifejackets to be stored safely. Our off-the-shelf models are available in a variety of sizes, capable of housing up to 54 life vests - or we can produce a model to suit.

As well as producing ultra-high-resistance Lloyds-approved products for onshore and offshore environments, we also manufacture a range of ready-made lifebuoy housings suitable for marina and inland waterway environments. These are tough and durable for many years of reliable service.

First aid and emergency

In cases of medical emergencies trust your lifesaving equipment is protected with Jo Bird cabinets.

Medical emergencies happen and when they do you need the peace of mind which comes from knowing that your equipment is protected.

Our emergency equipment cabinets are manufactured from hardwearing composite. They are Lloyd’s Type Test-approved, and carry an IP56 rating. Our breathing apparatus storage range includes off-the-shelf cabinets for single escape sets, plus one or two full-duration breathing apparatus sets. Fire retardancy, a shelf, a window, or 6mm-thick wall thickness can be added on request, and other customised solutions can be provided to order.

Our first aid and stretcher cabinets are Lloyd’s Type Test-approved, and carry an IP56 rating. Stretcher cabinets house Paraguard, Duofold, Neil Robinson and basket-type stretchers.
