From COVID-19 to systemic racism, income inequality to the climate crisis, we are being forced to confront moral issues of an extraordinary scale daily. But despite the challenges, there is hope through service, education, and solidarity.

Join us for a live, interactive virtual event hosted by FORTUNE’s Alan Murray where we will discuss how to lead constructively and celebrate youth who are taking action on today’s biggest challenges. We will hear from some of buildOn’s boldest voices who are leading the next generation of change-makers. Through intimate conversations, we will work collectively to identify steps we can take today to make tomorrow brighter for all.

Your participation supports buildOn youthFor nearly 30 years, buildOn has worked to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service and education. We do this by mobilizing youth from some of the most under-resourced schools in the United States to transform their communities through service learning and by empowering rural villages to build schools in developing countries.

buildOn’s Service Learning Programs empower high school students across six U.S. cities, to do service that addresses critical issues, such as youth violence, hunger, and poverty. The same students serve globally by traveling with buildOn to work side-by-side with villagers and construct schools in some of the economically poorest countries on the planet.

Through buildOn, more than 200,000 U.S. youth have contributed 2.3 million hours of service to their communities. 98% of these students graduate from high school compared to only 60% of their peers from the same schools.

Across the globe, community members have contributed more than 3.1 million volunteer workdays to build more than 1,700 schools in some of the economically poorest countries on the planet. 230,000 children, parents, and grandparents attend these schools every day, and 50% of all students are female.

buildOn Immersion ExperiencesPARTNERSHIP PROGRAMPair up with a buildOn student in a six-session facilitated coaching program. Share your professional and personal experiences to help students gain skills in college readiness, career development, or financial literacy. Join them in their communities to study challenges facing their community and learn how they are taking action.

36 HOURSJoin buildOn students for a day-and-a-half experience as they study the challenges facing their school and community. Speak with teachers and principals, explore neighborhoods, find solutions through service, and most importantly, learn from students whose grit, empathy, and resilience make them leaders to emulate.

TREKImmerse in the local culture and customs of a rural village, live with host families, and engage in service by physically helping to construct a buildOn school. buildOn is currently providing the Trek experience in six countries, including Burkina Faso, Guatemala, Malawi, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Senegal.

SERVICE IMMERSIONSpend an afternoon learning about service “the buildOn way.” Student leaders will walk participants through the five steps of the IPARD model of service-learning: Investigation, Preparation, Action, Reflection, and Demonstration while directly serving the Oakland community. This immersion is designed for a wide variety of participants including corporate groups, friends, and families.

DIGITAL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMGo online and use your personal and professional experiences to coach buildOn students. In a series of buildOn facilitated digital sessions, participants partner with students to design a service project addressing an issue such as financial literacy or college readiness while supporting students with professional skills and leadership development.
