Once again, our Christmas and Installation Dinner went very well. Incoming BIAW President Rick Heljm came to the dinner and installed our 2019 SICBA Leadership. Thank you to Rick and all or SICBA’s 2019 Leadership for making the time to contribute to the growth and success of SICBA, BIAW and NAHB. We held our dinner at the LaConner Yacht Club again this year and a great time was had by all. Catering was by SICBA Member LaConner Seafood and Prime Rib and was superb as always. This year SICBA adopted two families to help bring Christmas cheer to two families struggling to make

ends meet and to allow them to have a great holiday season. Thank you to all who donated to this worthy cause and the Events Committee was able to

shop for the items the families had requested plus were able to give them a very nice gift card for items they need later on. Please remember to make reservations online and pay online for our events. That makes it much easier on everyone when they come to the event plus it ensures there is ample food to cover those planning to attend. Mark your calendars for our January 15th dinner at the Best Western Plus Convention Center in Mount Vernon. This year is our 40th anniversary and we are going to be doing special things throughout the year to make this very memorable. See you on the 15th!

COMMITTEE REPORTS Events Committee Chair is Kim Piazza Thank you for helping us make the 2018 SICBA Christmas Dinner a great success. This year’s event was sold out! It was held at the Yacht Club in La Conner, and catered by La Conner Seafood and Prime Rib. The 2019 board members were sworn in and are ready to get down to business for what will be a great year for SICBA. 2019 is SICBA's 40th Anniversary, the Membership Committee is at work figuring out some great events to celebrate this milestone. The January member meeting will be on January 15th at 5:30-8, The Best Western Plus Convention Center in Mount Vernon. Dottie Piazza will be giving a speech so don't miss it!! Go to SICBA.org and register. Remember you need to pre-register, pay and attend the event in order to get your name in the drawing for $1979, the drawing will be held at the December meeting which you also must attend to be eligible to win the pot! Home and Garden Show Chair is Ben Sousa The last Home Show meeting was a year ago I think I remember what took place? The attendance were as follows: Dave, Ben, Lianna, Lori, and others?( I thinks so after all it was a year ago)The point is 2019 Home Show is going to be the biggest ( okay about the same size as last year ) but the best ever with your help we can have the BEST HOME SHOW EVER!!!! At the last years Home Show meeting the decision was made to expand to all sources of advertising media from yesterday and today. That means everything! To reach everyone we can, from young & old to millennials to baby boomers (are baby boomers old? ) If you didn’t get your same space that you had last year it might be too late, but it is too late to get the lesser price (maybe next year) The deadline was 12/31/18. Still looking for Playhouses for the 10th annual Playhouses (I would still like to see 10!) Lets all be creative and try to put something together for playhouses (talk to Ben our Lianna) We think we have “ Hot Topics “ to take the place of seminars but still will entertain ideas. Please let the Home Show committee know your thoughts.

Have a Great and Blessed 2019 Membership Committee Chair is Roy Mureno Happy New Year, SICBA – and a big “Thank You” to our current SICBA membership! Each and every one of you is appreciated for the support you show to SICBA and to the building industry. Your renewal of your membership each and every year does not go unnoticed. Another huge “Thank You” to those members who shared the benefits of membership and encouraged more business to join SICBA. In 2018 we welcomed a grand total of 54 new and 16 “welcome back” members to the Skagit/Island Counties Builders Association. We also increased our retention rate to an amazing 89.4%! Are you ready for some fun? Once again, we have two reward trips planned for 2019: a charter bus trip to the Seattle Mariners game on June 22nd and our 4th Peer to Pier Cruise on September 27th. These trips are exclusive for recruiters, new members and sponsors. For information on how to become a sponsor, please call or email Jonathan: [email protected] or (360)757-6916. Each SICBA member is challenged to recruit just one new member in 2019. It’s a New Year and a great time to belong to a trade association that provides education, networking, referrals, group discounts, and is dedicated to protecting and promoting the building industry in our communities. If you need help finding and developing leads to recruit, the Membership Committee will hold SICBA Call-A-Thons throughout the year. The first one is January 22nd from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm; contact Jonathan for details! Thank you for being a SICBA member.

SPONSORSHIPS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR THE 2019 PEER TO PIER CRUISE!!

If you didn’t qualify or just didn’t get to go on the cruise this year, we are putting plans together for our cruise next year. If you would like a captive audience for about 3 hours for them to see your wares and hear your name as a sponsor, now is your chance to jump in and sponsor for next year’s event. It is always a lot of fun!!! In order for members to get to go on the cruise, they have to be a new member that joined the association after the 2018 cruise or they have to recruit a new member company to be eligible for a ticket. This is all done through sponsorships and through the SICBA Membership Committee. If you are interested, give Jonathan a call at (360) 757-6916 or email him at [email protected].
