Play in an old time Rounders Tournament.

This early form of baseball uses hand-

carved bats, hand-sewn balls and no mitts.

The rules allow for a wild game:

Every hit ball is fair, but can be caught

on the fly or 1 bounce for an out.

Runners can’t return to a base once

they’ve left , but don’t have to stay in

the baseline as they escape being

tagged or pelted for an out.

All batters must get

out for an inning to

be over.

All in all , these make

for a crazy-fun game for

youth and leaders,

skilled and unskilled

players alike.

Discover why dancing

was a pioneer favorite,

at an old time dance

held in the Statehouse,

where Brigham Young,

Heber C. Kimball,

George Q. Cannon and

friends loved to dance.

Gain a little insight to what the early settlers

faced as they accepted the call to build the

Statehouse and Utah’s First Capital City,

through various pioneer activities.

Rounders Old Time Dance Pioneer Activities

There will be plenty of skipping, spinning and

sashaying. Come with sturdy shoes and lots of

energy. We’ll use dance cards and games to

choose partners and learn simple pioneer reels,

marches, schottisches & polkas. And just like the

youth of that day, we’ll sneak in a waltz or two,

even though Brigham Young thought them risqué.
