SECONDARY PUMPS SEQUENCE OPERATION

Variable speed Chilled Water Pumping System (District Cooling): The differential pressure across the secondary chilled water pumps is controlled by modulating frequency drives for the pumps. This is done by the built-in controls for the secondary pumps.

The differential pressure set-point shall be set by the PXM20 from the control panel. If the differential pressure exceeds the set value, the third pump shall be modulated down till either the differential pressure set-point is achieved or the pump stops. If the third pump stopped, then the second pump shall modulate down till either the differential pressure set-point is achieved or the pump stops. If the second pump stopped, the first pump shall modulate down till the differential pressure set-point is achieved.

If the differential pressure becomes less the set value, then the first pump shall be modulated up till either the differential pressure set point is achieved or the pump reaches its maximum speed. If the first pump reached its maximum speed, then the second one shall be modulated up till either the differential pressure set-point is achieved or the pump reaches its maximum speed. if the second pump reached its maximum speed, then the third one shall be modulated up till either the differential pressure set-point is achieved.

Secondary pumps priority : Based on the number of run hours. When the run hours for the lead pump exceed 200 hours, then this pump will be the last one in the sequence, and the next pump will be the lead one. One (1) pump will serves as standby unit. The standby unit will also rotate according to number of hours run. In case of fault signal from a duty pump, the standby unit shall take over.

BLOWER & CONDENSING UNITS FOR COLD AND FREEZER ROOMSSequence of Operation:Freezers or cold rooms a/c units shall be switched on/off based on time schedule program (daily, weekly etc.). BU and cu shall be interlocked and cu shall not start unless BU is running. Normal Operation:The blower unit (BU) fan speed shall be adjusted from the room thermostat. The room temperature set-point value is adjusted also from the room thermostat. Upon receipt of the start signal, the BU supply fan shall be started and all interlocked equipment & signals shall be activated. With this condition set, the unit shall initiate its temperature control function.

Temperature Control:The temperature control is done by BU local controller as follows:DDC control shall be applied to modulate the compressor and maintain the freezer or cold room air temperature set-point. Alarms:General fault alarm and deviation in room temperature set-point shall be monitored by BMS.

DOMESTIC WATER FILTRATION &BOOSTING SYSTEM:

Water system consists of city water tank/s, filtered water tanks, pumps and multimedia filters. The pumps shall be filtered started and stopped either locally from the MEC via on/off/auto selector switch, or remotely by the BMS.

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION:In automatic operation, the booster pumps shall be sequenced by the built-in control panel. If the system pressure is decreased, domestic booster pumps (bs-1) shall automatically operate according to their preset pressure. When the water level reaches reaches "lvl 1" (very low level) in the filtered water tank, i the booster set pump/s shall be stopped by the BMS. When the water level reaches "lvl 3" in the filtered water tank, the solenoid valve (v1) shall stopThe flow of incoming water and send alarm signal simultaneously to the BMS station &DDC panel. When the water level reaches "lvl 4 (very high level),Very high level alarm signal will be sent to the BMS and the water shall be drained to the overflow drain pipe.

When the water level reaches reaches "lvl 1" (very low level) in the city water tank, the transfer pump/s shall be stopped by the BMS. When the water level reaches "lvl 3" in the city water tank, the solenoid valve(v2) shall stop the flow of incoming water and send alarm signal simultaneously to the BMS station & DDC panel. Then DDC panel will initiate a signal to the fill alarm cabinet to inform the

personnel, who are filling the tank that the tank is full. When the water level reaches "lvl 4 (very high level), very high level alarm signal will be sent to the BMS and the water shall be drained to the overflow drain pipe. Multimedia filters shall perform cleaning and filtration for the domestic water.

BACK UP OPERATION:Chlorination lead pump (p-4) shall operate to circulate the water and automatically maintain the preset chlorine level in the filtered water tank.DUTY CYCLING:Should the duty pump fails, the standby unit shall start and continue to run until the failed unit shall have been fixed and re-started.Booster pumps shall be cycled for duty and standby functions based on software adjustable run hours limits (200 hours as standard), selectable by the operator at the BMS station. This is to keep equal tear and wear of the units.

ALARMS:In the event of any malfunction (pump failure, filtered water tanks high/low level ...) an alarm shall be sent to the BMS.

IRRIGATION BOOSTER SET:OPERATION: Irrigation system consists of city water tank/s, pumps, filter screens, pipes, sprinklers, control valves and accessories. The irrigation booster pumps shall be started and stopped locally from the PXM20.

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION: In automatic operation, the irrigation booster pumps shall be sequenced by the built-in control panel. If the irrigation system pressure is decreased during operation), pumps shall automatically operate according to their preset pressure. When the water level reaches reaches "lvl 1" (very low level) in the irrigation water tank, the pump shall be stopped by the local control panel. when the water level reaches "lvl 3" in the irrigation water tank, the solenoid valve shall stop the flow of incoming water and send alarm signal simultaneously to the BMS station & DDC panel. Then DDC panel will initiate a signal to the fill alarm cabinet to inform the personnel, who are filling the tank, that the tank is full. When the water level reaches "lvl 4" (very high level"), very high level signal will be sent to the BMS and the water shall be drained to the overflow drain pipe. Filter screens shall perform cleaning and filtration of the water.

BACK UP OPERATION:When the duty pump fails, the standby unit shall start and continue to run until the failed unit shall have been fixed and re-started.

DUTY CYCLING : Irrigation booster pumps shall be cycled for duty and standby functions from the local control panel. This is to keep equal wear of the units.

Alarms:In the event of any alarm (pump failure, filtered water tanks high/low level ...) an alarm shall be sent to the BMS.

TRANSFER WATER PUMPS:

OPERATION:Transfer pumps shall be started and stopped either locally from the mcc via on/off/auto selector switch.SEQUENCE OF OPERATION :

In automatic operation, the level sensors shall read the tank water levels. When the water level reaches level l2 (low level) in the water storage tank-2, the duty pump shall start. When the water level reaches level l3 (high level) in water storage tank-2, the duty pump shall stop. Water level l4 (very high level) shall give high level alarm. Water level l1 (very low level) shall send low level alarm. When water level in the water storage tank-1 reaches level "lvl a", the local control panel shall stop the transfer pumps. Water level "lvl b" shall send low level alarm and "lvl c" sends high level alarm in the bms. When water level reaches "lvl d" in the water storage tank-1.

BACK UP OPERATION:When the duty pump fails, the standby unit shall start and continue to run until the failed unit shall have been fixed and re-started.DUTY CYCLING:Transfer pumps shall be cycled for duty and standby functions based on software adjustable run hours limits (200 hours as standard), selectable by the local control panel. this is to keep equal wear of the units.

Alarms:In the event of any alarm (pump failure, water storage tanks high/low level ...) an alarm shall be sent to the bms.

FUEL SYSTEM (W/DAILY TANK):

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION : The daily fuel tank shall be filled by truck. the solenoid valve shall be normally open. When the tank becomes full, high level signal will be received on the DDC panel. Then, the DDC panel will initiate a signal to the fill alarm cabinet to inform the personnel, who are filling the tank, that the tank is full. After, sometime delay (i.e. 30 seconds), the DDC panel shall close the solenoid valve to prevent overfilling.

Page 5: Building Variable Speed CHW Pumping System

ALARM:In case of fire alarm signal came from generator room, the solenoid valve-2 shall close. Daily fuel tank low level alarm shall be printed at both BMS and alarm printer(s).

TYPICAL LIFTING STATION:OPERATION:The pumps shall be Started and stopped either locally from the automatic control panel via on/off/auto selector switch, or remotely by the BMS.

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION : In auto operation, at signal from level switch l3 the lead pump will start. At signal from level switch l4 the lag pump will also start. Level switch l2 stops both pumps. Level switch l5 gives high level alarm. Level switch l1 gives low level.

DUTY CYCLING:Pumps shall be cycled for lead/lag functions based on software adjustable run hours limits (200 hours as a standard), selectable by the operator in the BMS station. This is to keep equal wear of the units.
