Building the foundation… Welcome to the first issue of the GNC UK newsletter. “Gnani ni Chhaya ma” (GNC) meaning “in the shelter of the Gnani”, is the special section of the Dada Bhagwan Parivar that builds the foundation of knowledge for children and youth. There are activity centres around the world, including the UK, where sessions are held for toddlers (Baby Mahatmas or MHT), blossoming buds (Little MHT) and curious teens (Youth MHT). We hold regular sessions and one-off events at various Dada Bhagwan centres around the UK.

Issue 1 - 2017

On 18 February, we held the Valentine’s Day celebrations at Dada Darshan, Ruislip. The event helped us build the foundation of pure love between children and their parents. In March, we welcomed Pujyashree to the UK for his 2017 tour. Leicester and London GNC Centres used this as an opportunity to display their work and research on various topics. We were lucky to celebrate Simandhar Swami’s birthday in Pujyashree’s presence on 21 April at Harrow Leisure Centre, London. Read on to get a glimpse of the fun and Gnan covered at these events.

Valentine's Day

SPREADING THE WORD

What is Pure Love? Pure Love does not increase when you receive a garland of

flowers and does not decrease when you are insulted by someone…

This is Pure Love… Love that does not increase if we get what we want Love that does not decrease if we do not get what we want

How can we show Pure Love? Do not see the fault of others Share things with others Be kind to others Accept everyone as they are No expectations of others

Page 2

Fun filled activities… From decorating love biscuits, making friendship bands and bookmarks to writing special love messages, there was something for everyone to do!

To develop real love, ask for forgiveness for all your mistakes. When you see faults in others, remind yourself that the other person is not at fault – 'I saw the mistake, so it is my fault'. In this way, differences will not arise and you will be able to become an embodiment of real love (prem swaroop).

Valentine’s day celebrates love, and our event was no different. Children and their parents got to learn more about Dada’s vision of Pure Love. Dadaji has said “Pure Love” is to see everything with a sense of oneness and to behave without discrimination to others. The event was filled with a variety of interactive activities: role-plays, storytelling, crafts and a beautiful display – “The Great Wall of Love”. And no celebration is complete without yummy food. The children and parents took home the message that Pure Love is without expectations and being selfless with your loved ones. The children also got to play a game with their parents and ended with a ‘Jadu ki Japi’ i.e. ‘a magical hug’ to demonstrate Pure Love.

PURITY

As a result of this project, children increased their understanding of Dada's Gnan developing a keen interest to learn even more. Most of all, the event has helped to unite all children.

Pujyashree’s first stop in the UK was Leicester where he was warmly welcomed by the children, youth and all mahatmas. Purity The Leicester GNC centre displayed their understanding of Purity as envisaged through a child's eyes. Cutout models were used to bring home the message of purity, unity and also to encourage children to participate in weekly GNC sessions. Gnan (Knowledge) is like a lotus rising above the muddy waters of kashays (anger, pride, deceit and greed), always pure and untainted. Simandhar Swami's knowledge flows like a river of Gnan and reaches earth via the medium of Dada. Children used their creative skills to demonstrate what they see as pure in their eyes. Dev-Devi's, stars, fire, water, clouds, sun, lotuses, and celibacy, all formed part of the creative display.

Purity was also displayed through the divine swans of Niruma and Pujyashree always guiding us with their discerning knowledge of Gnan and Agnan.

What is required for Purity? Dada: The intention "May no living being in this world be hurt by me". If anyone hurts you then it is as per nature's

law.

GNC children and youth welcomed Pujyashree with great pomp and style on 21st April at the Harrow Leisure Centre, London. A convoy of bikes and scooters festooned with Union Jack balloons eagerly waited for Pujyashree’s arrival. A very British welcome indeed!

Simandhar Swami's Birthday

Celebrations

Ice sculpture of Simandhar Swami Pujyashree paid his respects to a huge ice sculpture of Simandhar Swami.

Bhakti and Dance The celebration continued with our Little MHT girls presenting a beautiful song in praise of Simandhar Swami. What better way to show our devotion to our beloved Swami than to present a dance on the main prayer.

In the satsang hall, our very own Akram band made the welcome even more special. With a fusion of the east and west, the tabla and vocals melded with the piano, guitar and saxophone to regale all mahatmas with ‘Dada Bhagwan Na Asim Jai Jai Kar’.

Our youngest Baby MHT members guided Pujyashree from the car to the start of the convoy, and led him into the satsang hall. Two lucky Little MHT members got the opportunity to garland Pujyashree.

Question and Answer session Pujyashree also answered questions from the Little MHTians e.g. How can we go to moksh? The Youth MHTs also asked questions to further their understanding of Akram Vignan.

First you must keep the strong intention that "May no living being in this world be hurt, even in the slightest degree, through my mind, speech or body". Second if you do happen to hurt anyone then wash it off by doing pratikraman.

How can we go to moksh?

Exhibition on Simandhar Swami

How can I meet Simandhar Swami? Do not hurt anyone If you hurt someone immediately ask for forgiveness Stay lovingly with everyone Make Simandhar Swami your friend Just as you speak to your friends everyday speak to Simandhar Swami everyday

The current living Bhagwan The display started with a great picture story showing the birth of Simandhar Swami, the current living bhagwan. The basic information about Swami was depicted very simply on a birth certificate! How innovative! There were two level paintings showing the 14 auspicious dreams that Queen Satyaki had just before the birth of Simandhar Swami. These dreams depicted that the baby will be a Tirthankar, i.e. one who can guide others to the path of achieving ultimate bliss and liberation.

Where is Simandhar Swami? Simandhar Swami lives in another world called Mahavideh Kshetra which is to the north of Bharat Kshetra (this earth). It is not possible to visit Mahavideh Kshetra due to the cold zones between our two worlds.

AKRAM SCIENCE

Akram Science is the science of understanding our own existence. It is the science of cause and effect (or karma), and how we can go past this to never-ending happiness. Dada has done many experiments. If we can put these in practice, then it is possible for us to live a life without clashes. Akram Science gives us the right understanding to solve any puzzle or conflict that we come across. On solving these, we reach our goal of permanent happiness.

Our Youth MHT girls illustrated the birth of Simandhar Swami and explained why it is important to pray to Swami. Pujyashree took a keen interest in the details displayed.

Exhibition on Mind, Chit, Intellect and Ego

Dada Darshan, Unit 2, Stonefield Way, Ruislip HA4 0JA Phone: 0330 111 DADA(3232)

Kids Website: kids.dadabhagwan.org Web: ukevents.dadabhagwan.org Facebook: dadabhagwanuk Email: [email protected]

The Youth MHT girls put up an easy-to-understand display on the difficult topic of ‘Antahskaran’ – the inner workings of mind, chit, intellect and ego. A truly enlightening display!

Mind

Intellect

Chit

Ego

Makes decisions based on what the Mind and Chit

show

An interactive 3D Chit camera was created whereby children could look inside to view photos that tend to be stuck within a child's chit. See Pujyashree having a look.

Mind shows good and bad thoughts e.g.

homework is boring

Thoughts are never ending

Chits can show previous photos

Chit takes photos of things

Helps decide which option will make us

happy

We cannot do anything without the

Ego saying 'Yes'!

ChitChat With the increased use of social media, especially by the younger generation, a creation of Snapchat called ChitChat was made using the components of Mind, Chit, Intellect and Ego. Example: Mind shows thoughts e.g. I want to send a chitchat, who should I send the chitchat to etc. The Chit shows a picture that could be used. The Intellect decides who to send the picture to. The sender sends the picture and the receiver's Ego derives pleasure from seeing the funny picture.
