How the CHEP pooling system works

1. Use CHEP pallets to move goods across your supply chain and we can take care of all your pallet management needs.

2. If the companies that receive your deliveries are CHEP clients, they can reuse the pallets for their own deliveries. Alternatively, the pallets can be returned to you or sent to CHEP for servicing.

3. With our One Way Trip service, we’ll collect every pallet from its delivery point, inspect it and, if necessary, repair it before making it available to you again for reuse.

A rigorous inspection and repair process keeps quality consistent. Pallets last up to 10 times longer than the white-wood equivalent*.

CHEP pallets conform to industry standards. They are quality-assured to reduce the risk of failure and the need for movement.

Rigorous quality assurance means CHEP pallets are trusted by supply chain managers and more readily accepted by retailers.

Pallet quality varies from one supplier to another, so failures, product damage and production-line delays are more likely.

Up to 25% of your pallet stock must be kept in reserve for deliveries and exchanges, as you wait for other pallets to be recovered.

Small suppliers may not be able to provide you with the equipment you need to meet sudden peaks in demand.

White-wood pallets

Standards vary, increasing the risk of platform failure and the amount of hazardous movement required in delivery yards.

Palletised goods may need additional packaging and inspection to reassure supply chain managers and satisfy retailers.

You pay for equipment up front, whether you end up using it or not. Managing the recovery and storage of pallets takes time and effort.

Timber sources are difficult to verify and pallet lifespans are lower on average. Disposal of waste wood is your responsibility.

Renting equipment means you only pay for what you use while you’re using it. CHEP ends the risk and admin burden of pallet ownership.

Retailers welcome CHEP pallets

Retailers demand high-quality pallets, and that’s what we supply. We maintain pallet quality by inspecting them when they’re returned to us, and repairing or replacing them when necessary. Plus, our pallets always conform exactly to our standard sizes. That’s why so many large retailers accept them. In the UK that includes ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, B&Q and Waitrose, and many others.
