The true spirit of the Airborne was

promotion and celebration of our National
Airborne Day (N.A.D.) activities. Our
“Open House” was well attended by
members, associates, USASMA students
and event the general public. The time
now appears ripe for hosting a WELCOME
event for those attending the academy.
We owe a great deal of gratitude to those
who put forth an amazing effort to make
our N. A. D. celebration a huge success.
The festivities our guests were treated to,
was outstanding!
KUDOS to Special Events Coordinator,
John Ceballos who (working from home),
organized the recognition events with the
city, county, and local media. Much of the
success to our event can be attributed to
the publicity the event received.
We have received the resignation letter
from our Public Affairs Officer, Orlando
Garcia. We can all sympathize with
Orlando as he is employed full-time and
dedicates the remainder of his time to
furthering his education. “Orlando, we
thank you for your service and hope that in
the future, you may be able to dedicate
more time to chapter service and all
related activities.”
We now turn our attention to the chapter’s
“National POW/MIA Day” Observance and
Operation “Market Garden” remembrance
scheduled for 6 pm, Friday, September 21,
in the chapter facility. The event will be
FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Please
makes plans to attend and participate in
the recognition event.

NATIONAL POW/MIARECOGNITION DAY
(Continued from page 3)
National POW/MIA Recognition Day is a
day we gather to honor our prisoners of
war and those who are still missing in
action. Of equal importance is that we also
remembers the families and friends of
these veterans. Although it is not a national
holiday it is a day of observance which
should be honored by all Americans.
Try to imagine someone you love going
missing and never returning. Just imagine
the questions that would run rampant in
your mind. Is he/she safe? Is he/she in
pain? And, most difficult of all... is he/she
still alive?
A segm ent of the POW /M IA Table
ceremony is to PRAY that they will soon be
back within our ranks. With the recent
developments from North Korea that some
remains have been returned, it appears that
some Prayers have been answered. It
therefore, behooves us all to continue those
Prayers in the hope that more of our
comrades will also be returned.
In observance of National POW/MIA
Recognition Day a candle light vigil will be
sponsored at the 82 Airborne Chapternd
Facility commencing at 6 pm, Friday,
September 21. The event will feature
presentation of the POW/MIA Table and a
former Prisoner of War who will serve as
the keynote speaker. The event will be Free
and Open to the public.

PROPOSEDFACILITY NAME CHANGE
It has come to the attention of the Executive
Board of Officers that the Chapter Facility
may be in need of a name change. With so
many members deserving to have the
facility named in their honor, it has been
suggested that we may want to institute a
generic name change INSTEAD of having
the facility named after one, single person.
