Title: Building Bridges, Breaking the Walls: Managing Refugee Crisis in Europe

Idea, theme and objectives Structure

The project is intended for 32 youth workers, youth educators, members of civil society organizations from 15 European Union and the Neighboring countries who are ready to actively fight against radicalization, discrimination and intolerance against refugees and migrants in their countries and who want to transfer the knowledge they gained in the project to the youth in their organizations and countries.

NOTE!

To ensure a long term impact we will involve same 36 youth workers in both activities of the project.

Objectives of the Activity:

The Training Course (Armenia) and the Study Visit (Sweden) have the following main objectives:

To provide conceptual framework on the notions of emigration, immigration, integration and multiculturalism to 36 youth workers from different European countries;

To analyze the emigration and immigration situation in participating countries and to find out the causes of migration, namely push and pull factors;

To discuss and analyze the current refugee crisis migration challenges in Europe and try to offer solutions from the perspective of youth work;

To foster tolerance, respect and open-mindedness towards migrants while working with young people as a target group;

To share experiences and best practices of integrating young migrants in youth organizations;

To equip youth workers with capacity to combat hate speech towards migrants, misinformation about refugees and xenophobic discourse;

To create a network of NGO's willing to be involved in the migration management process and contribute to the refugee integration process in participating countries.

Arrival and Departure 20th of November is an Arrival Day. Make sure you arrive to hotel between 12:00 to 18:00. We will have a welcome dinner altogether at 19:00. The official program starts on 20th of November. 28th of November is a Departure Day. The check-out should be performed after the breakfast. NOTE! You can arrive to Yerevan or Tbilisi couple of days earlier or stay couple of days longer to see around or to travel a bit. However, this should be done at your own expenses. The Hosting organization can help you to find a hostel for extra days, but you should bear those extra costs.

How to reach the venue?

It is possible to reach Yerevan through 4 airports: Yerevan International Airport (Armenia), Gyumri Airport (Armenia), Tbilisi International Airport (Georgia) and Kutaisi Airport (Georgia).

If you arrive to Yerevan International Airport: The participants landing in Yerevan will be picked up by the

organizers. If you arrive to Gyumri Airport: The transfer from Gyumri to Yerevan will be organized by the organizers. If you arrive to Tbilisi International Airport: We will arrange a bus for you from the Tbilisi airport to Yerevan. The

price of the bus is 15 EUR one way. If you arrive to Kutaisi Airport: You have to take bus to Tbilisi (cost 20 GEL) and join the bus that will bring you to

Yerevan. Accommodation

The training will take place in Yerevan, Armenia. All the participants will be accommodated in Hotel Capital in Yerevan city center.

Financial Conditions

100% of all the travel costs of the participants within the maximum limit per country will be reimbursed.

Reimbursement will be done in EUR, regardless of the currency indicated on the ticket and receipt/invoice. Any tickets purchased in a local currency other than EUR, will then be converted and calculated according to the exchange rate of the month given by the European Commission.

Participants will receive the travel reimbursement via bank transfer to their sending organizations within 1

month after the end of the Training Course upon receipt of their travel documentation.

Please do not forget to collect your boarding passes, tickets, invoices and any other travel document. In case a

document is missing, we will not be able to provide a refund.

NOTE! There is a participation fee of 50 EUR for both of the projects.

Reimbursement

NOTE! Please check travel budget limits below. If travel costs exceed the amount budgeted in the project, the cost should

be covered by the participant. The organizers will only be able to reimburse participants the maximum travel costs

indicated in the travel budget. You are therefore strongly advised to book trip travel well in advance and look for the

cheapest option.

In order to receive the travel refund, participants need to complete a reimbursement form that will be given during the

Training Course. Below you can see the travel cost limits per country per participant:

Each participant should attach the following documents to the reimbursement form in Yerevan:

Tickets (there must be price and name of the person stated on it).

Boarding passes (in case of loss – please get a confirmation from the airlines, that the flight was taken)

Invoices – yes, even if you have a ticket, our accounting still needs an INVOICE.

Online Check-in should be made before your leave Yerevan to make sure you give as Boarding Passes from the

way back as well.

Insurance

Please keep in mind that you are self-responsible for sufficient insurance (illness, personal liability, cancellation, theft

etc.). Armenian Progressive Youth NGO takes no responsibility for the insurance. Make sure you have a travel insurance

valid in Armenia from 20th of November to 28th of November.

Agenda According to our agenda, we are planning to have Dinner all together at 19:00-20:00, on 20th of November, at the hotel Capital. We have also an intercultural evening, and it would be perfect if you can bring and share some food, drinks, and traditions about your countries.

Currency in Armenia

Armenian national currency is the Dram (AMD). There are ATM machines and banks all around the city. Payments with

VISA/Master Card credit cards are possible in most of the supermarkets, cafes, shops and restaurants. For the small

local shops it’s always good to have some cash. The exchange offices are located in the banks and some big supermarkets.

No passport is needed to exchange money up to 170 EUR. Here is the link for the rate in different banks and exchange

Fall in Yerevan is usually mild but we would recommend to take hoodies and warm clothes with you, and, of course,

SIGHTSEEING IN YEREVAN

If you have time in Yerevan for a walk, you can go to museums or just have a walk in sunny Yerevan. Yerevan is a political, administrative, commercial & financial, as well as cultural & educational centre of Armenia. The population is about 1.2 million people. Because of the fact Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world; it hides many beautiful and interesting places.
