As they approached this important milestone in their young lives, it was comforting to see so many family, relatives and friends offering encouragement and support. They opened their hearts to be touched by the love and joy of communion. To receive Christ’s Body and Blood for the first time, the gifts that all His children so lovingly desire. The children have been invited to Sunday Mass wearing their communion clothes and a Communion breakfast celebration is being held after Mass in the School hall for them. There are also refreshments for all parishioners. Let us continue to offer these young people spiritual support and guidance in their journey of faith, to ensure that their first Holy Communion is not their last. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers this week. Thank you Using many parables like these, he spoke the word to them, so far as they were capable of understanding it... but he explained everything to his disciples when they were alone'. Why is it that we are so limited in our understanding? We are constantly reminded throughout the Scriptures that we 'see only in part', that 'our thoughts are not like God's thoughts', our ways are not like His ways; that God's realm surpasses all understanding. We need to remember that we are children of God and not God Himself. He created us in His image and He demands our total obedience and love. We go by what He says to us, like good children. Imagine your own children: do they understand 'your ways'? And yet you want them to trust and listen to you. God wants us to trust Him, to trust Him more than our own understanding. We need to 'go by faith and not by sight'! Love without trust is not real love. Jesus 'explained everything to His disciples when they were alone'. They were His disciples, hence they followed Him, they went by faith in Him and so the trust between them and Jesus was very deep. This is why He confined to them secret truths. Only when we truly love and have faith, do we come to the point where we can reveal our deepest thoughts and feelings; we lose the sense of our ego; we open up to the other and become one with him. The Olympic Truce is an ancient and sacred tradition – an

agreement to lay down arms and put all fighting on hold. Through prayer and

reflection we can all get involved. 100 Days of Peace began on 8th June & runs until 28th October - 50 days before the start of Olympics and 50 days after it ends. See the beautifully-illustrated double-sided A3 sheet
