Building A Healthy Lifestyle In Children
A healthy life style is the most important today. It became important because an
individual's health depends a lot on their lifestyle. A lifestyle can reflect an individual's attitudes,
values or world view. This is why building a healthy lifestyle in children are important too. As
we know, children learn everything from their parents. Their parents have a big role to create
their habits and also their lifestyle. If parents have healthy habits, like eating a variety of healthy
foods and being active, the children are more likely to build those habits into their own lives.
Instilling a healthy lifestyle in your children is not difficult. Parents can start to build a healthy
life style in children by simple things. The simple things for children to learn and to do are
proper hand washing, eating a healthy food, choose water as a drink, and get a physical activity.
Building a healthy life style can start from teach your children how to wash their hands
properly. Washing hands are very important because a number of infectious diseases can be
spread from one person to another by contaminated hands. Washing hands properly can help
prevent the spread of the organisms that cause disease. Always remind your children to wash
their hands thoroughly before eating, after going to the toilet, handling animals, playing, and
handling food. Use liquid soap and warm running water and wash hands for at least ten second.
After you teach your children wash their hands properly, then you should tell your
children to eating a healthy food. Eating a healthy food can help your children feel good, stay at
a healthy weight, and have lots of energy for school and play. Encourage your child to eat lots of
fruit and vegetables, lean meats, low-fat dairy products, and whole grains. And limit the bad
foods such as junk food and instant food.
Eating a healthy food must balance with drinking a water. Make it a habit to your child to
drink water when he or she is thirsty. Children need plenty of water to stay hydrated and healthy.
Water makes up more than half of your child's weight, and a steady supply is necessary to keep
his body working properly. It can be challenging to get your child to drink enough water because
most children prefer the sweet taste of juice, chocolate milk or soda over the plain taste of water.
Teaching your child why drinking plenty of water is so important can motivate him to consume
more, and entertaining activities can make learning about water more interesting.
The last one that parents can do to build the healthy life style in children is get a physical
activity. Find ways for your children to be active for at least 1 hour each day. Children can break
up the time into several 10 to 15 minute periods of doing exercise throughout the day. But,
remember for parents do not to force your children with exercise. You should try to find
activities that they enjoy such as ride bikes walk, fly a kite, dance, skate, swimming, soccer, and
many more.
Building a healthy life style in children with proper hand washing, eating a healthy food,
choose water as a drink, and get a physical activity are the simple things that parents can use to
teach their children to live healthy. It is very important when children begin to spend more time
away from home and live independently. Without control form their parents, they can life with a
good and healthy because they have learn from their parents before and become a good habit in
their life.
