1- Moodle basic estructure

1.1 Categories, courses and activities

Moodle's basic structure is organised around courses. These are basically pages or areas withing Moodle where teachers can present their learning resources and activities to students. They can have different layouts but they usually include a number of central sections where materials are displayed and side blocks offering extra features or information.

Courses are organised into categories. Physics, Chemistry and Biology courses might come under the Science category for instance.

Into the courses he students will find activities and recourses created by their teachers.

Only the Teachers can enrole the students to a course.

1.2 Blocs, Rols and Groups

Blocks are items which may be added to the left of any page in Moodle. They may also be added to the centre of the My Home (My Moodle) page.

Any block can be made 'sticky' so that it appears in all the contexts below, such as throughout a course or a particular activity.

A role is a collection of permissions defined for the whole system that you can assign to specific users in specific contexts. The most common examples are the roles of student and teacher in the context of a course.

Teachers can enrol users in diferent groups, like a classroom or diferent levels.
