build your own blend (byob) - blc13
DESCRIPTION
The Innosight Institute (2012) defines blended learning as: “a formal education program in which a student learns at least in part through online delivery of content and instruction with some element of student control over time, place, path, and/or pace...” Given that blended learning is NOT about putting content online and hoping students will take it from there... How might we leverage digital tools, environments and processes to give students more control over time, place, path and/or pace, even within a traditional school schedule? How might we most effectively engage learners and extend their thinking beyond traditional boundaries? Attendees will consider elements critical to the design of successful “BYOB” learning opportunities, including: Thoughtful selection of resources and processes to support student workflow, productivity and self-direction Meaningful integration of online and face-to-face experiences to reframe time, place, path and/or pace of learning Strategies for pushing past the novelty of digital tools and environments to leverage the affordances of eachTRANSCRIPT

Learning Goals
Phase 1: What do I want to accomplish?
Phase 2: Who else has accomplished the same goal, and who will support me?
Phase 3: What skills and resources will I need to accomplish my goal?
Phase 4: What will I have to change about myself to achieve my goal?
Phase 5: What is my plan for achieving my goal, and how hard will it be?
Phase 6: What small steps can I take right now?
Phase 7: How have I been doing, and what have I learned about myself?
