TDD supports and provides guidance in the development of competency-based training courses, and qualifies course developers, instructors and validators. To date, there are 210 courses available in the ICAO Course Catalogue.

TAC supports training organizations in enhancing, streamlining and modernizing training operations through the conduct of assessments and to meet current and future needs driven by the exponential growth of aviation. Since the inception of TRAINAIR PLUS in 2010, approximately 250 assessments have been conducted.

Established in 2014, the ICAO Global Aviation Training Office (GAT) supports the human resources capacity-building of ICAO Member States and ensures they have access to enough qualified and competent personnel to operate, manage and maintain the current and future air transport system. The TRAINAIR PLUS Programme (TPP) supports GAT’s mandate.

GAT events are organized and hosted by TRAINAIR PLUS Members with the aim of reinforcing the implementation of the ICAO competency-based training methodology, and creating a platform for exchange of knowledge and best practices. Since GAT’s establishment in 2014, a total of 21 global and regional training events have been organized in all ICAO Regions, bringing together close to 5000 aviation training stakeholders. More than 4500 trainees successfully

completed ICAO training courses.Over 380 ICAO-recognized classroom courses were delivered across all ICAO Regions.

550 senior and middle managers from developing States benefited from full training scholarships in 2018. Twenty sessions were delivered globally to enhance participants’ understanding of effective safety and security oversight systems training and improve States’ compliance with the ICAO’s global Standards and Recommended Practices.
