1. Prepare students to become skilled business professionals who can contribute positively to organizations and society
• The COB offered six diversity related scholarships through its endowed (approximately $350K) minority student scholarship funds.
• The concept of professionalism is growing in importance and our programs continue to build on this idea through mock interviews, etiquette training, lectures, presentations, and opportunities to interact with our eight advisory boards.
• In an effort to better serve students, we implemented an “Advisor on Call” program in August 2012. Through this process, each of our advisors opens up their calendar on a walk-in basis for the equivalent of one day a week. The program has been well received. We are also experimenting with sophomore group advising.

• The Chicago MBA was launched in February 2013. The program is held in the Crain Communications building on Michigan Avenue within the ISU suite of offices. In addition, a new cohort for the Corporate MBA–Normal was launched in fall 2012. These programs are weekend executive style programs consisting of mid- to upper-level business managers who are employed full time.
• Approximately 400 students completed internship in the past year. In addition, average starting salary for full time employment for COB graduates was $43,551.

2. Build a community of excellent scholars, teachers, and support staff• COB: Faculty members continue to be very productive in the research
arena. For 2012 faculty members produced 280 intellectual contributions including 109 refereed journal articles (note: 111 in 2011; 90 in 2010; and 81 in 2009); Book chapters published in 2012=10 (note: 2011=20; 2010=8; 2009=14); Peer reviewed paper presentations in 2012=60 (2011=68; 2010=60; 2009=65.

• Blogging and video interviews enhanced on a newly developed Content Management System for web delivery
• Enhanced marketing communication strategies were implemented via Linked-In, Twitter, print (COB “News and Views”, COB “Sustaining Excellence,” COB “Standards of Professional Behavior,” COB “Early Career Achievement,” FIL “Disclosure,” Accounting “Footnotes,” Business Week, and various other print pieces that were mailed and were developed for the web).
