Gangs are a huge problem in El Salvador. The gangs recruit kids early in age be-cause once a kid joins a gang, he is in for life. To leave a gang results in death. Don realized that in order to prevent kids from being recruited by the gangs, kids had to be reached early. Don started reaching and discipling kids at age six. Kids are taught to live as warriors for Christ. They are taught to pray, read God’s Word, memorize Scripture, witness to the lost, and disciple other kids. It’s a seven-step program. As a part of the discipleship program, kids are required to be involved in street min-istry. They do all the puppets, drama, singing, preaching, praying, and the altar calls. The adults just give guidance. It was truly amazing to see these nine, ten, and eleven-year-olds doing this ministry. Attached are pictures of these kids in action.

This past March, David and I took a team of 17 children’s leaders and district leaders

to El Salvador. We conducted a children’s ministries training conference for the key leaders involved in the King’s Castle Ministries from 21 different coun-tries. What an incredible experience!

King’s Castle Ministries (Castillo del Rey) was started by missionaries Don and Terri Triplett. It started out as a street ministry for youth but now has expanded to an outreach and disciple-ship ministry for kids called Club Castillo. Kids can join starting at age six. This discipleship program was created with BGMC funds! This

ministry owns a large piece of property located on the side of a volcano where they conduct camps, training, and Master’s Commission programs. All the buildings resemble castles.

Our team was the first children’s ministry team to come to El Salvador to train these teams in children’s ministries. We taught classes on puppets, drama, illusions, juggling, human videos, the Holy Spirit, faith, story telling, clowning, ventriloquism, charac-

ters, and lots more. Classes were held all over the King’s Castle property including outside and in unfinished areas. In turn, these key leaders were to take back what they learned and train the team members in their own countries.

BGMC provided a ministry kit for each country that contained puppets, illusions, balloons, balloon pumps, a recording device that contained hundreds of pages of materials, notes, and lessons that they can print off and

distribute in their countries. Also on this device we put the BGMC missions manuals in Spanish so they can teach their kids about missions. Ministry supplies were also given out in every class that was taught by the team. Some of the supplies were purchased by BGMC and some by the churches represented.

A thousand people attended this conference. The spirit of God was so strong in the services. Even though our team couldn’t understand the words of the songs, we could feel the power of God. It was incredible! Children’s pastor Benji Allen and BGMC director David Boyd were the keynote speakers for the evening services. They both did an incredible job. The spirit of God poured out on the attendees. On the last evening, some of the kids from King’s Castle came. It was really powerful watching them worship and pray at the altar.

While in El Salvador, our team also ministered in the streets with King’s Castle, ministered in services, and viewed the discipleship ministry at work. It’s really AMAZING to see what the Triplett’s are doing to disciple these kids for Christ. Every children’s pastor needs to view this ministry. For more information, visit their Web site at www.kingscastle.org.

Our team came away changed and more blessed than those we ministered to. The attendees just soaked up everything we had to share with them. They were all so excited and so thankful to have had this training opportunity.
