Kurzbiografien der Autor/innen Gökce Yurdakul (PhD, University of Toronto) ist Georg-Simmel-Professorin an der Graduate School for Social Sciences der Humboldt Universität Berlin. Sie hat zuvor in der Bilkent University, Türkei, an der Brock University in Ontario, Kanada, und am Trinity College Dublin gelehrt. Olena Bagno ist Newbauer Fellow am Institute for National Security Studies, Israel. Sie unterrichtet Methodologie für Sozialwissenschaften am Interdiscipli-nary Center, Herzliya. Sie untersucht Definitionen nationaler Identität in der öffentlichen wie in der parlamentarischen Diskussion hinsichtlich der Frage der Integration von Immigranten. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit widmet sie dabei der Art und Weise, in der die Kategorie Gender zum umkämpften Be-reich geworden ist, in dem nationale Identitäten festgeschrieben werden. Als Teil dieser Forschung veröffentlichte sie Analysen der öffentlichen Diskussion an-lässlich der Ermordung Theo van Goghs, aber auch von Ehrenmorden in den Niederlanden und Deutschland, sowie Scharia-basierter Vermittlungsansätze in Ontario. Der Schwerpunkt ihrer früheren Arbeiten lag auf der Konstruktion der Staatsbürgerschaft auf Seiten amerikanischer Sozialbehörden.
