Why offer WorkSkills? The BTEC in Work Skills:

• Is a flexible qualification available in a range of sizes and levels which can enrich your curriculum at any time of the year.

• Is funded and contributes to your Foundation Learning provision at Entry 3 and Level 1.

• Has an extensive range of units, giving your centre and learners the opportunity to build their own BTEC that caters for their needs.

• Provides recognition for learners’ abilities and evidence of the skills required for success in the workplace.

Employability skills are a top priority for businesses. 82% of the firms who responded to the CBI’s 2011 education and skills survey said it wasthe most important consideration when recruiting graduates.*

WorkSkills helps you equip your learners with these essential skills to function in employment and in life.

Employers such as Coca Cola, Deloitte and McDonalds wholeheartedly support what learning programmes such as WorkSkills can bring to learners and regularly tell us that having a workforce who are prepared for work and engaged in learning is a huge advantage.

About WorkSkillsWorkskills offers a wide-ranging package of bite-sized units at Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2. They are accredited on the QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework), so learners complete units and accumulate credits at their own pace. At Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2 learners can build credits to gain BTEC Award, Certificate and Diploma qualifications.

Workskills Plus are a range of Level 3 units that help learners aged 16+ develop a comprehensive range of skills, abilities and personal qualities that have been identified as optimising success in working life and in further learning. Learners can achieve WorkSkills Plus Level 3 BTEC Award or Certification qualifications.

WorkSkills qualifications are developed to suit learners with spikey profiles. This means that for a learner to achieve the qualification at a particular level, they are only required to gain a portion of the credits at that level. The remaining credits can be awarded at a higher or lower level.

Safe LearnerWe have created a BTEC Level 2 Award in Safe Learning in the Workplace to help learners gain the essential skills to keep them safe and healthy in the workplace. It’s an ideal qualification both for learners preparing for work experience and employment.

Our new QCF qualification (from January 2011) is mapped to the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Health and safety. It’s a 2 credit and 20 guided learning hour (GLH) qualification which consists of one mandatory unit: Reducing the Risks to Health and Safety within a Work Placement Environment.

Assessment is straightforward via an onscreen, multiple choice test which takes an hour to complete and consists of 45 questions. Online resources are available for learners upon registration.

Safe Learning in the Workplace is a standalone qualification that perfectly compliments the BTEC in WorkSkills.

BTEC Level 2 Employability SkillsOn behalf of Pearson and Deloitte, we are pleased to introduce to you our new accredited BTEC Level 2 Employability Skills qualification.

Deloitte have developed a unique programme which helps tutors teach students the skills, attitudes and behaviours they need to secure and sustain employment. To date over 600 college tutors from over 150 FE colleges have been trained and over 24,000 students have benefited from the expertise and experience Deloitte offers. Deloitte and Pearson are now working together to accredit the learning that takes place on the programme.

In order to gain approval to offer this qualification, participation at training events and webinars is required. Once approved, centres will gain access to a bank of resources which supports the Learning Objectives.
