BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Level 3/4 Exam Board EDEXCEL Overview The Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is a Level 3/4 qualification designed to give students knowledge and skills to prepare them to study within the art & design sector. Progression to a university degree is predominantly, but not exclusively, the aim of the course. Study on the course is highly practical and concentrates on forming a visual portfolio of work for use at interview during the UCAS application process. The course comprises of three main stages: exploratory, pathway and confirmatory. This takes students through a journey of experimentation, skills building and creative research, then moving towards specialisation in a particular area, and ending in a major project in a chosen specialism that demonstrates your abilities and level of independence.
