Shannon Star Stage School is first and foremost a Musical Theatre based school with performance development for young people as its core vision. The vision of the school is carried out through group classes and workshops along with recital and costumed productions.

The main subject taught is confidence building; this is the key to making any stage school an enjoyable experience. Every individual student attending our school will have their own personal strengths and weaknesses. At Shannon Star your child will be afforded the opportunity to develop their own personal performance skills at their own pace and without the pressure of the schools quality or reputation to inhibit this development.

We want your child to grow in confidence. In this age of peer pressure, goals and achievement levels, bullying and isolation issues your child may need an outlet whereby their artistic side is developed and applauded. They may not come out of our Stage School as the best singer or best dancer or best actor but then again that is not what our school is about. At our School Children find new friends, new feelings and invariable some actually find new pathways in life.

Thanks to all the parents and our course the fantastic students in Tralee for a great third year. This is our seventh production and as we come to the end of the final term we hope to see a lot of old and maybe some new faces back with us in September. For further information and enrolment details please visit www.shannonstar.com

Enjoy the show…but be sure to clap, cheer and acknowledge the hard work the students have put in over the last few weeks.Bryan CarrDirector

MUSICAL THEATRE SINGING EXAMS

After many false dawns in relation to finding a College that had proper Musical Theatre Singing Exams as suppose to Colleges who have a Classical background putting Musical Theatre as an add-on and then having a Classical/Opera/Clarinet teacher examine the student we finally found the Exam Syllabus at Guilford School of Acting, London. Your child’s exam will be taken here in Tralee, sometime in late June/July. Age: From 7+

Reason: Exams are a good way to build confidence, no one will fail these exams, anyone who has an interest in Musical Theatre or who may feel one day they would like a career in Musical Theatre then Guilford is one of the Top 5 colleges in the UK for Musical Theatre (There are none in Ireland); Therefore auditioning for Guilford with a Grade 8 or Diploma from this College increases your chances of being accepted or getting a scholarship.

Note: These Exams are open to anyone, parents, siblings or anyone you know who might be interested in the exams. Also a lot of other Singing Teachers give weekly classes, sometimes throughout the year to prepare for Exams. Really all we are doing with the Exam students is giving them the confidence to prepare, present and perform in the Exam.
