The Borough wide Petition…….what is it?
• The Borough is set to build 15,555 new houses.
• 4,000 of these houses are Coventry overspill.
We want the Plan reviewed and a commitment to a lower housing total.Reject Coventry’s overspill of 4,000 houses.
Why does the Borough Plan need to be reviewed?
• Data from the ONS has changed. The figures they have produced show that the Boroughs population growth is significantly lower then the data currently being used which is about 7 years old.
• The Borough Plan has to be reviewed within 5 years of Submission, we want an immediate review before any planning applications are put in and before houses are built.
• Reviewing the plan before submission would be the ideal path……..however the council need a 5 year housing land supply, which they have not maintained without a plan developers could plans in for any land and would not be refused.
• Cities like Birmingham have reviewed there own plan and have decreased the numbers of houses by 17,000.
