HIRING INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITES IS A SOUND BUSINESS DECISION.

On March 19, 2012 Governor John Kasich signed an executive order making Ohio an Employment First state. Ohio joined the nationwide movement of moving individuals with developmental disabilities from segregated to integrated employment. The employment initiative supports individuals with development disabilities to obtain work opportunities in their community, earning a competitive wage and working alongside non-disabled peers.

ARC Industries supports this initiative by providing employment support services and helps link individuals with community employers. Currently we have 500 individuals in integrated employment and the number continues to rise. Together with numerous community partners we can add gainful employment and add value to companies that employ them. Call 800-734-7007 or go to are web site at www.arcind.com

Officials from the YMCA of Central Ohio and community leaders held a ribbon cutting

event January 9th to celebrate a new partnership with Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools (GJPS) and Franklin University at The Y at Clark Hall. The facility, a boutique-style studio located at 380 Granville St., Suite B in Gahanna, offers GJPS residents, employees and current YMCA of Central Ohio members:

• a boutique-style studio experience focused on small-group fitness• educational-based wellness programming for youth, teens and adults• youth and teen S.T.E.M. and technology

“We’re thrilled to expand the YMCA deeper into the Gahanna community,” Paul Westenheffer, executive director of the Gahanna/John E. Bickley, said. “At the Y, our cause is strengthening community and we’re proud of this partnership and our opportunity to reach more individuals throughout the city. Our new programming is cutting edge.” The Gahanna/John E. Bickley YMCA will continue its operations at 555 YMCA Place.

Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults, will also offer classes at the Y at Clark Hall. This announcement reunites Franklin University with the YMCA, the organization that helped launch the University in 1902. Sponsored by the YMCA as the School of Commerce, Franklin began with a mission to make education, success, and a piece of the “American Dream” possible for everyone.

About the YMCA of Central OhioThe Y is one of Central Ohio’s leading nonprofits, strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are a diverse association of men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life, joined together by a shared commitment to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve our community’s health and well-being, and provide opportunities to give back and support our neighbors. As part of the fabric of Central Ohio for nearly 160 years, the Y has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change.
