Volunteers are special people.
We appreciate all the time
you give to help our animals!!
This is Sioux. She came to us from an Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
She came to us with her back leg in a cast. She had broken it. We took her to
the veterinarian and discovered she had an infection in her broken leg. It was
decided that the leg needed to be amputated. Sioux is a Calico Shorthair
spayed female cat born 8/08/11. She came to our shelter on 01/07/15. She
was a very friendly special needs cat that wanted a good home. On 2/23/15
Sioux found that special person to give her a forever home. Teresa Martyn in
New Ulm picked out Sioux as her companion. It didn’t matter to her if Sioux
has three or four legs. Teresa saw beyond her disability and found the loving
cat that she was.
The Brown County Humane Society launched its new website on May 15. it is locat-
ed at bchsnu.com . We invite everyone to take a few minutes to go into the new site
and see all the information that is now available through this site. Also, go into the
Brown County Humane Society’s Facebook page is you haven’t already done so.

BCHS ADOPTIONS
We had a total of 145 adoptions
by May 15, 2015. This was 40
dogs, 33 pups, 37 cats and 35
kittens. We work very hard at the
shelter to make sure the animals
are healthy and find them good
forever homes.
What to Keep out of Your New Kitten or Puppies Reach
Puppies and kittens are very inquisitive. Keep these things out of their reach:
* All household cleaners * Garbage
* All medicines * Certain household plants
* Antifreeze * pennies minted in 1983 or later

Aluminum Recycling
Why recycle aluminum?
It improves the appearance of the community with no unsightly crushed cans laying around.
It helps our economy by saving cost of producing more aluminum cans.
It helps community groups, such as BCHS, raise funds to assist animals.
Aluminum cans are easy to collect and recycle, but many people throw them out any-way. Recycling saves energy, reduces carbon dioxide emissions and the amount of waste headed into landfills. This is important for all of us.
There is a recycle bin at the BCHS Shelter at 1301 So. Valley Str., New Ulm as well as a bin on the east side of Pizza Ranch. Royal Tire maintains the recycle bin at BCHS, transports and sells the aluminum cans for the shelter. The money raised goes to help care for the dogs and cats. Please help by recycling your aluminum cans!
