Construction of Little Falls
y Rin Porter
At the May 21 Todd County
oard meeting, commissioners
warded the remaining contract
n the annex remodeling project to
agle Construction of Little Falls.
he contract was a rebid for the
ork of demolition, earthwork, and
oncrete in connection with the
nstallation of a new elevator in the
emodeled annex building. Theher project bids were awarded
st fall, shortly before remodeling
ork got underway.
Contegrity Inc., the countys
roject management firm, super-
sed the rebid advertising and bid
pening. Only two companies sub-
itted rebids; 11 declined to partic-
ate in the rebidding process. The
econd bidder, Duncan Concrete,
ubmitted a bid of $312,521, which
30% higher than Eagle
onstructions bid of $239,900.
Earl Fuechtmann appeared
efore the board on behalf of
ontegrity along with architect
tephanie Howe, and told theoard that both bids were higher
han he had hoped. Nevertheless,
he Eagle Construction bid would
educe the cost of the elevator work
y $100,000. He estimated that
he next phase of the remodeling
roject would begin in mid-June.
Health and Human Services
HHS) Director Cheryl Schneider
ld the board that she and her
aff will vacate the first floor of
the Annex by June 3, in time for
demolition and utility work to
begin. Staff are being moved to the
completed second floor of the
annex, and to the Main Street
Government Center, for the dura-
tion of the first floor remodeling,
scheduled to be completed in
August.
Schneider complimented county
maintenance staff for their assis-tance in dismantling and moving
desks and files for a second time as
part of the remodeling project. She
said, They have done a superb
job. She also thanked HHS staff
for their patience and willing coop-
eration during the renovation of
the Annex workspaces.
Also at the May 21 meeting,
Todd County Economic
Development Director Rick Utech
appeared before the board to rec-
ommend the hiring of a lobbyist
and consultant to help Todd
County get better broadband serv-
ices.
Utech recommended JoanneJohnson, a former member of
Congressman Collin Petersons

State of Minnesota and the federal
government, and for two state task
forces to which she was appointed

(First in a series of articles describing Browerville Heritage Days)
The month of June starts this Saturday, and June always means
Browerville Heritage Days are coming soon. This year, they will be
at the very end of June - the 28, 29, and 30 - which gives us plenty of
time to prepare!
This years chair of Browerville Heritage Days is Tom Thibodeau,
owner of Knotty Pine Embroidery in Browerville. Tom worked with a
volunteer committee formed in January of long-time residents and
business owners. Their goal is to make Browerville Heritage Days a
great success.
Its expensive to put on a celebration like Browerville Heritage
Days. Tom estimated the cost at $40,000. The money is raised from
donations and entry fees at some of the events. But the entry fees are
low and each person gets a lot for his or her money! In addition tothe entry fees for some events, the committee is selling weekend
passes that cover three special events on Friday and Saturday, and
t-shirts. The weekend passes and t-shirts are available now at local
businesses in Browerville. Get your t-shirt now and wear it to help
publicize Browerville Heritage Days.
The committee has planned a
weekend of activities that include Continued on page 7
