Attendance is compulsoryin Florida between the 6th and 16th birthday.</p><p>All students are required to complete kindergartenprior to enrollment in grade one. The minimum legalentry age for kindergarten is age five on or beforeSeptember 1 of the current school year. However these choices are limited. Each schoolhas its own list of items studentsneed, and parents are encouragedto contact their childs school forthat information.</p><p>What are the hours of a childsschool?School hours vary. In general,elementary schools are open from8 a.m.-2 p.m.; middle schools areopen from 9:00 a.m.- 4 p.m.; andhigh schools are open from7:40a.m. - 2:40 p.m. To determinethe specific hours of operation,parents are urged to call the frontoffice of their childs school.</p><p>Who is eligible for transporta-tion to a Broward County PublicSchool?Transportation via Broward CountyPublic School buses is provided tostudents living more than two (2)miles from their assigned school orif there is a safety hazard along theroute to school. In addition, parentsand other community members cansign up to volunteer in Browardspublic schools by calling theVolunteer Services Department at754-321-2040 or can volunteer tobe Mentors to children. Individualsinterested in our Mentoring Pro-gram are urged to call 754-321-1972.</p><p>What shots does my child needto register in a Broward CountyPublic School?Keeping students in BrowardCounty Public Schools safe frominfectious diseases is very impor-tant. Before entering a BrowardPublic School, students must havethe proper immunizations.
