Developing one’s ability in accounting is very significant in order to adapt to change and win business competitions. Magister Accounting Master’s Degree (S2) Program offered by the Faculty of Economics, Tarumanagara University is established to upgrade accountant careers by focusing on improving one’s knowledge and skills in accounting concentrations. The objectives of this program are designed to produce professionals who have leadership, integrity, global perspective, and intellectual proficiency in interpersonal communication related to the specialization or concentration, with the capabilities in decision making whether on the operational level or strategic level.

Learning Method:Active participation between facilitators and students through concepts, cases, simulations, practices and company visits.

Pre-Magister Accounting Program:Those who are graduates from non-accounting Strata-1 should attend the Pre-Magister Accounting Program for introduction to accounting fields. The subjects are:

The Pre-Magister Accounting Program will be held 2 months before regular class starts.

Schedule and Duration:This program is available in two different sessions:1. Evening Class : Tuesday to Friday (06.30 p.m. – 09.00 p.m.) and

Saturday (08.00 a.m. – 10.30 a.m.)2. Weekend Class : Friday (06.30 p.m. – 09.00 p.m.) and

Saturday (08.00 a.m. – 04.30 p.m.)The program is based on credits, in which 1 credit equals to 50 minutes class meeting. Every subject has 3 credits, equal to 150 minutes class meeting, except for Research Seminar (1 credit) and Theses (5 credits).

Content:I. Basic Competency (35 sks)

Focusing on: Ability to make decision based on scientific approach.

Having skills in formulating and solving problems scientifically based on management and accounting information systems.

Having attitude and behavior that is necessary to become a strong leader and having integrity as a professional.

Ability to communicate with company related parties effectively and efficiently.

II. Supporting Competency (10 sks) - depending on the concentration / specialization.Specialization:1. Financial Accounting – Capital Market

Focusing on: Ability to give consultation services in accounting and capital market

investment.2. Management Accounting

Focusing on: Ability in giving strategic solution to management that is useful in making

decision and organizational control.3. Auditing

Focusing on: Ability to examine and evaluate internal control and company

performance.4. Public Sector Accounting

Focusing on: Ability to analyze and give suggestion that is useful to make solution of

problems in public sector accounting.5. International Taxation

Focusing on: Ability to arrange cross border tax transaction to achieve the after-tax

flows overseas income lawfully at minimal cost and risk, and to provide tax treaty interpretation in accordance to Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties (VCLT) to avoid misinterpretation.
