Our curved plywood components are manufactured using a 7 or 9 ply lay up of hardwood. They are virtually void free and dimensionally accurate. Some of the larger radius components now have a hardboard face and back. These provide a smooth surface to paint or veneer without telegraphing.

The surface on all the components should be ideal for laminating or veneering. With just a small amount of finishing and sealing they can also be painted.

For U.P.S. parcels under $200.00, we must add a handling fee of $10.00 per order.

The components marked with a ** will not ship U.P.S. as is because they are over the U.P.S. size limit of 165” (girth plus length measured as if in a box). We can cut these to any size required for U.P.S. shipment. If you cannot have them cut, they will go common carrier truck using our discounted carriers or one you choose. The components are wrapped in cardboard and usually go out the same day the order is received.

Discounts are available depending on the quantities ordered. Custom curved plywood components can be provided to your specifications with production type quantities.

These are a 90 degree plywood component with a flat past the 90 degrees to facilitate inserting a biscuit to join a flat.

The prefit “L” component is for applications that require a 90 degree corner. The pre fit milling of the component allows for easy attachment of a 5/8”or 3/4” thick panel (see diagram). These are to be used only on convex applications. They are designed to increase your productivity and quality by providing precise and stable radii with smooth faces. Used extensively in the store fixture market to soften a curve at a high traffic point and eliminate corners on cabinets where laminates tend to peel off first.

The MDF quarter rounds may be attached to form convex or concave curves. These parts will provide smooth corner transitions and enhance the appearance of your cabinet or display work.

TABLE BASES 27 1/2” TALL PLYWOOD CYLINDER

The 6 ply 5/16” thick, 27 1/2” tall full plywood cylinders are ideal foor table bases. The fancy face cylinders with the faces applied in press are only available 27 1/2” tall, they have vertical grain and are ready for finishing.

We also stock these plywood cylinders in the laminate paint grade for joining, making them taller, if that is what you require. The grain direction on the laminate grade is horizontal and the birch faces are not matched for color but very smooth for painting or veneering. Most of these cylinders are available in a 10 ply 7/16” wall thickness on a special order basis for an upcharge of 60%. Plywood cylinders over 28” in diameter are considerably more expensive due to differentfabrication technique.

FULL PLYWOOD CYLINDERSWe stock a large selection of full plywood cylinders in a myriad of heights, diameters, wall thicknesses and veneer faces. All are dimensionally accurate and can be used for many different applications: table bases, pedestals, columns, telescopes. We also stock the rabbet joint caps for these cylinders. The fancy face cylinders are only available at 27 1/2” tall. The laminate/paint grade cylinders can be routed with a 12 degree router bit and slip jointed for an application needing a longer plywood tube. We offer this service for 6’’ to 18” in diameter at a cost of $40.00 per fabricated joint and for 20” to 28” in diameter we charge $50.00 per fabricated joint. Plus the cost of the additional cylinders needed for the height you require. The joint is puttied and sanded for a smooth seam when painting or laminating.

Our caps are 3/8” MDF attach on the plywood cylinders by way of a rabbit joint. For cylinders over 28” in diameter we offer them in 3/4” MDF. Flush mounted caps are also available, however, the cylinders must be routed for an inside lip. These are available on a special order or you can route them out of MDF yourself.

We stock many types of bendable substrates, from the thin 1/8’” 3 ply Italian Poplar to the thick 3/4” pre-kerfed MDF panels from Kerfcore. Some, like the 3/8” bending lauan can be used as a core bending stock that is less expensive, others have a smooth paint grade finish to be used as the final face of a bendable project like the 1/8” bending birch. NeatForm, which is a pre-kerfed high quality MDF and the KerfCore which is a pre-kerfed particleboard or MDF both have websites that show fabrication and laminating techniques to get the most out of their products.

Both companies also manufacture custom panels that we can obtain for you. On all these panels the 48”’ x 96” panel dimension describes a panel that will bend to make a 96” tall tube for a column application. The 96” x 48” panel dimension describes a bend to make a 48” tall tube or to be used for a serpentine counter front application.

Neatform is a high quality bendable sheet material. It is pre-kerfed MDF which has a smooth surface on one side that makes it ideal for painting. veneering or laminating. The back side has the kerfs running either 96” or 48” in length to make it bend. It has become the preferred bendable material for many custom applications including; serpentine counter or bar fronts, wavy walls or light soffits.

This material has a latex impregnated 2ply paper with a core of kerfed particleboard. Phenolic backed veneers can be laminated to these panels in a flat press and then bent without telegraphing. It then can be manufactured into a free-form cocktail table, kidney shaped columns etc. Many millwork shops manufacture a flat plywood form near the top and bottom. They will dado the Kerfcore product and press the plywood forms into the dado channels and glue them.

BENDING LAUAN

BENDING PLYWOODTwo types of bending plywood are stocked for immediate shipment. The 3ply Italian Poplar is also a smooth paint grade plywood with a bit more integrity on the bend. The bending lauan is a more of a construction grade or core material for build up and it will take laminate or veneer with some surface preparation. They can be used where a large sweeping curve is required or in a serpentine free flowing application. All are available in both bending directions.

EICHLER HOMES SIDING REPLACEMENTWe stock replacement siding for Eichler Homes. This material is ACX Douglas, with the traditional groove pattern just like the original siding used back in the 50’s. We can apply the ship lap on the edges and still hit the centers on the original frame’s two by fours. This allows a tight exterior fit just like the original construction. The “A” face on this ACX panel is the grooved face and it is suit-able for painting.
