BRANDING & COMPLIANCEThe logos and colors in this style guide are the primary graphic elements of the Broken Arrow Public Schools branding program. Consistent application and precise production of the logos will identify and reinforce public awareness of the district, its school sites, departments, athletics and other areas.

When the logos and colors are used properly with the other elements of the identification program, a unique and effective visual style is established. The logos and their treatment described in the following pages are: the official BAPS logo and the official logotype, the various department logos, official colors and samples of applications.

Reproduction quality copies and digital images of the logos may be obtained through Communication Services at 918-259-5716.

All materials using the BAPS logos must be approved by Communications by calling 918-259-5716. Please allow two working days for all requests.

COLORSBlack and Gold are the official colors of Broken Arrow Public Schools, both academically and athletically. They are as important to the identification program as the logos.

To ensure consistency, BAPS has chosen PMS 4515 as the Gold (also known as “Vegas Gold”) and Process/Pantone Black as the Black. The application of these two colors will create a strong and consistent identity for the school district.

Secondary colors for BAPS include PMS 425, also known as “Anthracite Grey,” and Process White.

The logo can be used in black, white, gold or grey, but no other color is acceptable. Gradients of the logo with the Vegas Gold are also acceptable.

ACADEMIC LOGOThe Academic Logo of BAPS is the official school district branding. It represents the district as a whole and various departments, programs and other branding.

The logo should always be used either as a stand-alone graphic, or with the proper wording as shown on the next page, which is also known as the “university” look. It can be used in conjunction with other designs (such as T-shirts, postcards, posters, etc.) but must not be altered either by shape or color. If solid, it must be presented as either black, white (reverse), Vegas Gold or Anthracite Grey (see previous page). As a gradient, it can be used in the gold or grey manner (see samples).

The logo must always be accompanied by the registered trademark symbol (®) at all times.

The logo cannot be distorted, condensed, morphed, outlined or stretched. It must always be sized in proportion. It must never be redrawn, translated, rotated or altered.

For the “university” look, the logo must be accompanied by the wording “Broken Arrow Public Schools” in the font Perpetua Titling, with “Est. 1904” and arrow graphics. The Perpetua Titling font must also be used in a consistent manner with the logo in letterhead and other official applications.

The logo may not be accompanied by or combined with any other marks, symbols, text or graphics to create a new mark. BAPS will also not allow the use of other school district official colors with the BAPS trademark logos.

ATHLETIC LOGOSThe Athletic Department of Broken Arrow Public Schools seeks to unite all student athletic programs under one banner, showing strength, pride and solidarity when it comes to competitive sports.

To keep the strength and consistency of the BAPS athletic brand, three different logos have been provided to display in the correct context of usage:

• Traditional Logo- This is the same logo as the Academic Logo used by the district as a whole, and can be used with the same guidelines as before.

• Athletic Logo (Claws)- This is the logo associated with team sports and can be used in conjunction with the Traditional Logo on signange, uniforms, decals, fliers, posters, etc.

• Athletic Logo (Corporate)- This is the logo used in conjunction with the Athletic Department in regards to business functions (letterhead, signage) as well as overall sport branding, decals, promotions and other usages.

All three logos help to unify and strengthen the Athletic Department while uniting the sport teams under one umbrella of solidarity. While the logos can and will be used in a variety of manners befitting to the given circumstances (signage, clothing, uniforms, business communications), they must be treated in the same manner as the BAPS Academic Logo, when applicable, in regards to compliance and brand identity.

The Corporate Athletic Logo will be especially helpful in identifying the many sports team programs as all under the Tiger brand, as evidenced in the samples to follow.

The goal of the Claw Mark Logo is to stand alone and not be paired with any other logo or symbol. If it needs to be identified with “Broken Arrow,” “Tigers” or “BAPS,” then it must still stand alone with no markings overlapping the art.

OTHER DISTRICT LOGOSBroken Arrow Public Schools is populated with many internal programs and departments, some with their own stand-alone logos apart from the Academic and/or Athletic Logos.

While not under the specific guidelines of the official logos of BAPS, the responsible departments/programs should still adhere to the same compliance and standards in regard to their own branding and identity. Consistency with brands should always be the focus of all marketing and promotions.

These other logos should never be used in conjunction with other marks, symbols or district logos unless approved by Communications Services (as in a cross-promotion). While many logos may appear over the years with new additions to programming, the following page displays the best-known of these programs as they appear in district publications, functions, marketing and promotions.

LETTERHEAD and BUSINESS CARDSThe business dealings of Broken Arrow Public Schools should always be conducted with the utmost professionalism and brand identity strength. Consistency in letterhead, envelopes and business cards is key in this regard.

The Academic Logo is the main imagery used with all three business correspondence pieces, with the district motto and contact information also present. The letterhead utilizes the Perpetua Titling font for the district name, and can use either the Vegas Gold gradient or solid black Academic Logo depending on printer capabilities.

For envelopes, the district standard is a black and white No. 10 envelope with the black Academic Logo and address in the upper left corner. The font for Broken Arrow Schools changes to Myriad Pro Semibold Condensed since the typeface is smaller. The Myriad font makes it easier to read.

For business cards, the simple Academic Logo is used on a plain black background with the pertinent information in the lower right corner. The back of the business card is presented in landscape format with the Academic Logo, school district name and motto. The font used for legibility is Helvetica, a business standard font, which once again allows for easier readability. A gold metallic foil is used for the Academic Logo on the front to create a “real” representation of reflection.
