Promote personalized care and cost efficiency with smart healthcare practices
Industry trends
Integrating digital technologies to meet emerging healthcare demands
Digital hospital initiatives
More healthcare institutions are digitalizing their environments
to deliver more advanced patient care. They are integrating
technologies such as electronic medical records and health
information exchange to reduce medical errors and accelerate
service delivery.
Mobility in healthcare delivery
Institutions and providers are adopting mobile capabilities
such as devices, tele-monitoring and healthcare apps to
enable medical teams to serve a broader patient population
more efficiently.
Rising consumer expectations
Consumer demand for tech-driven, premium health services is
increasing from an expanding middle class with the finances
and desire to invest in such care.
Changing healthcare paradigms
The healthcare paradigm is shifting from acute care to chronic
care as non-communicable and lifestyle diseases like diabetes
and cancer continue to surge.
Customer needs
Build brand value while satisfying patient needs
Meet patients’ rising expectations
Amidst an aging population and government-imposed
healthcare cost limits, more financially empowered consumers
are turning to the private sector to satisfy their demand for
premium care. Healthcare providers need smart healthcare
technologies to attract these consumers and build brand value
with the attentive, efficient service their patients demand.
Sustaining service with high efficiency
With the burden of resource-consuming chronic care, the
industry can no longer afford to focus on acute care and
its traditional delivery and business structure. Healthcare
institutions must digitalize their equipment and processes for
more efficient, accurate service delivery, lower operational
costs and a more sustainable, e-healthcare business model.
Samsung capabilities

Area 1 : Ambulance scenario Area 2 : Lobby and reception desk scenario
• Check patient information. An ambulatory staff member uses his mobile device to quickly access patient information on an electronic medical records app.
• Diagnose patient. The emergency medical technical (EMT) scans the patient using a handheld ultrasound device. An ambulatory staff member performs a blood test on the patient using a portable IVD device and immediately sends the results to the hospital using a mobile device.
• Take CT images. As the ambulance arrives outside the emergency room (ER), an ER staff member scans the critical patient on-site with the portal CT scanner.
• Inform guests. In the hospital lobby, patients and visitors locate their current destination, desired hospital locations and pertinent information using an interactive kiosk.
• Enter inpatient information. An administrative employee checks a patient into the hospital. Using NFC printing, the employee prints an ID tag including a barcode, special notices and a tracker system and then gives the tag to the patient.
Samsung offerings for the ambulance
In-Vitro Diagnostics
Ambulatory and emergency medical staff can use the portable
Samsung LABGEO IB10 IVD to support more accurate
diagnoses and medical attention in critical situations. With
LABGEO, EMTs can check the patient’s condition on site and
send test results from the IB10 IVD directly to ER doctors’
LABGEO-installed mobile devices. ER physicians can then
immediately prepare to administer appropriate treatment.
With simplified processes, ambulatory staff can perform a
maximum of three tests in 20 minutes for quick and accurate
test results.
Portable CT scanner
For added diagnostic mobility, medical staff can use
CereTom®, a portable CT scanner, to perform CT scans from
various locations—emergency room, operating room or even
in the ambulance. When catastrophes occur, staff can scan
the patient’s body while in the ambulance or outdoors to
provide immediate and necessary patient care. Medical staff
can navigate the scanner through the hospital to the patient’s
location, reducing the need to move the patient.
Samsung offerings for the lobby and reception
Interactive kiosks
Samsung’s self-service kiosks help medical facilities offer
flexible, efficient customer service to patients and hospital
guests. Tech-savvy consumers can enjoy an interactive
medical environment and technologies that provide them with
various self-service options and hospital information right at
their fingertips. Using interactive kiosks, patients and guests
can instantly access medical data or hospital resources,
avoiding the long line waiting for assistance from hospital
staff.
System air conditioners
Samsung system air conditioners (SACs) set the stage for a
patient-centric experience by creating a pleasant atmosphere,
starting in the lobby. Using the Data Management System,
hospital staff can maintain a comfortable indoor climate with
flexible AC control and monitoring. And with the Remote
Management System, staff can seamlessly control and
monitor SACs 24/7 through the Internet.

Team with a global healthcare solutions provider to deliver exemplary care
Case studies
Northwick Park Hospital streamlines workflow
Client’s challenge
Northwick Park Hospital, a trauma and maternity specialty
hospital in northwest London, needed a way to ease the
staff’s daily workload. Administrators had to manually write
and convey patient data to the X-ray technician so he or
she could position the X-ray system, which delayed exams.
The hospital also needed advanced equipment for accurate
diagnoses and treatment, and efficient workflow to handle
the rapid patient throughput.
Solution
To ease their daily workload and increase diagnostic
accuracy, Northwick Park Hospital implemented XGEO
GC80 to increase the hospital’s productivity through
seamless, automated operation. With full-body imagery,
auto-positioning and wireless, automated operation, the
hospital satisfied its need for efficient patient workflows for
its challenging, high-volume environment.
Benefits
The XGEO GC80 installation now provides staff with high-
speed, sharp imaging that accelerates staff productivity,
streamlines workflow and increases diagnostic accuracy.
Radiographers can diagnose patients more quickly and
confidently with superior-quality, full-body images. Staff
can swiftly examine more patients without the added
hassle and delay of manual positioning. In addition, the
simplified design and operation increase staff convenience
and portability.
Memorial Hermann hospital
Optimized patient wellness through 24/7 home health monitoring
Memorial Hermann hospital needed a remote platform that
enabled staff to monitor, engage and educate patients even
while away from hospital. The hospital implemented Vivify
Health, an end-to-end Remote Care Management partner
solution, featuring Samsung GALAXY Tab3 to facilitate
cloud-based home health care monitoring. Tab3 enables
24/7 remote care for unmatched patient engagement and
optimizes patient wellness with real-time patient alerts,
remote education and video conferencing. In a 90-day pilot
deployment to monitor heart failure patients, readmissions
and in-home nursing visits reduced drastically, with zero
unplanned clinician visits.
VNA Home Health Hospice
Enhanced patient engagement with connected, remote care
VNA Home Health Hospice needed a wireless device solution
to meet recent trends in patient telecommunications and to
extend its existing tele-health program through remote care.
To meet the hospice’s needs, Honeywell HomMed developed
Genesis Touch, a complete home health monitoring system,
including GALAXY Tab 2 and sensor peripherals. When
going home after leaving hospice inpatient care, patients
use the Tab 2 to track their health status and receive remote
care through video consultations with care providers. With
instant access to patient data, physicians can improve patient
engagement and care coordination with less paperwork and
fewer visits to physicians’ offices.
Brookdale Senior Living
Operational efficiency through improved data access
Headquartered in Brentwood, TN, Brookdale Senior Living
is a leading provider of home healthcare. Using Samsung
GALAXY Tab devices, healthcare professionals at Brookdale
Senior Living can now easily access medical records and
other valuable information. This convenience enables staff
to provide superior-quality care to their vulnerable patients.
