After breakfast, we head west to experience the astounding views from the “Abra del Gallo” at an altitude of 4560m. We will travel to a region near Tolar Grande, considered not just one of the most noteworthy places in the state of Salta, but in the whole world - not only because of its outstanding beauty, but also because of its inherent scientific value, which has given mankind a better understanding of the beginning of life on Earth.

Specifically, you will visit an area known as “Ojos de Mar” where researchers have found prehistoric microorganisms called stromatolites, that are still alive, having inhabited our planet as long as 3.5 billion years ago! The day will be drawn to a conclusion watching the sunset over the mountains in Tolar Grande, located at an altitude of 3500m and with just 150 inhabitants, this village emerged with the arrival of the railway line that used to connect Salta, Socompa and the harbour of Antofagasta in Chile, when the mining industry was at its peak.
