Homeless Low Self-Esteem

Services Offered

One of the most commonoutcomes of homelessness is thefeeling of low self-worth and lossof confidence. Homeless individuals oftenfeel that they accumulate more failuresthan successes. This can hinder their motivation to find employement and other basic needs. This keeps them from being able to persue, obtain and hold respectable jobs. For all of these reasons, homeless individuals find it harder and harder to integrate themselves back into society. Repeat homelessness is more common for those who suffer from these insecurities.

Tori Forrest, licensed cosmetologist, founded the Makeover Mission in 2012. She became inspired to create the nonprofit after her class cut hair at a local homeless shelter. The mission of the organization is to provide hair and beauty services to homeless or low income families. The goal is to instill confidence in individuals, which motivates them to pursue, obtain and hold respectable jobs.

“We do it just to make them feel like they deserve more than their

circumstances and, if nothing else, they deserve to feel beautiful.”

-Tori Forrest, founder and CEO
