Koncerts for Kids EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS
THE THRILL of the ORCHESTRA October 7, 2016
Coast Hills Church in Aliso Viejo For over seighteen years, South Coast Symphony’s Koncerts for Kids has performed for over 45,000 students and their teachers from cities and communities throughout South Orange County. These live symphonic concerts are held annually in the spring during the school day. Students and teachers are bused to and from their schools to the concerts completely free of charge! Koncerts for Kids is a specifically designed multi-media program for fourth grade students. They experience music, performed by a large symphony orchestra, from a variety of genres including classical, jazz, opera, the film scores from Hollywood and the music of Broadway. Highlights of these concerts have included an interactive music and art performance to the music of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, and multi-media presentations from the film scores of composer John Williams. The students also have the opportunity to hear performances at each concert from two very talented young performers who have been chosen as award winners from the Symphony’s annual “Young STARS of the Future” Competition. Students attending these concerts come from schools in the Capistrano Unified School District, Tustin Unified School District, selected schools in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District, and private schools throughout South County. A component to this program is the “Young Stars of the Future” Concert and Competition. The “Young Stars of the Future” Concert is the culmination of a process that starts in the fall with auditions, both taped and live, by aspiring young musicians living or studying in Orange County. A jury of professional musicians judges the auditions. Typically, three finalists are chosen and each receives a $1,000 scholarship, along with a performance with the South Coast Symphony.

LEAVE a LEGACY of MUSIC Many of our patrons are surprised to learn that the cost of a ticket to the Symphony does NOT cover the actual cost of presenting that concert. In fact it does not even cover half of the expenses. To make our concerts affordable we rely on donations from our Angels along with grants and sponsorships. YOU can insure that future generations will continue to enjoy great music by including the South Coast Symphony in your estate planning. Simply insert the paragraph below to your documents or include the Symphony as a beneficiary of your 401K, retirement or life insurance plans. “I give and devise to South Coast Symphony, EIN# 33-0721401 $____________(or state a percentage) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, to be held, administered, and used by the Board of Trustees for the unrestricted support of the South Coast Symphony.”
