    1. VISITING INTERNATIONAL FACULTY

    PROGRAM ( VIF)

    Is the United States largest cultural exchange

    program for teachers and schools

    It is dedicated to transforming lives throughinternational exchange of teachers.

    Offers highly qualified teachers from around theworld serving as teachers and cultural ambassadorin the United States.

    It is the intention of the VIF to ensure that student,educators and communities worldwide reap thebenefits of international education . the programbelieves in the following principles:

    1. All school should have at least one international exchange teacher.

    2. All students should be exposed to a variety ofexchange teachers during their academiccareers.

    3. All communities should have an equalopportunity to develop globally literate citizens tohelp build a foundation for success in the globalmarket place.

    The program started 19 years ago. It wasfounded in 1987 and began accepting teachers

    from other countries of the world to teachkindergarten up to grade 12 in 1989.This projectis in cooperation with the North CarolinaDepartment of Public Instruction. The first group

    of 12 international teachers worked on in 10North Carolina countries as foreign languageteachers.

    The international teachers are coming from morethan 50 countries of the world such as Australia,Canada, Chile, and New Zealand, Ecuador,Mexico, Spain including the Philippines. Thereare several Filipino Teachers who participated inthis program.

    3. Inter African Teacher Exchange The objectives of this program are to provide

    opportunity for African teachers to learn fromteaching environment in other Africancountries and also aimed to extendexperiences and widen the horizon of

    African teachers by encouraging exchangevisits to countries outside Africa as well.

    The teacher will travel to neighboring countriesto work for over a period of the two weeks afterwhich in pairs they will engage in followingactivities:

    1. Be stationed at one school for one week andanother school for another week.

    2. Observe teaching in the said teachers subject3. Guest ICTs at the schools that the teacher is

    visiting4. Engage in discussions with the teachers in

    another school.5. Write a journal of their exchange visit.

    4. Canadian Educators Exchange

    The Canadian EducationExchange Foundation is a non-profit foundation which handlesboth student and educatorexchanges.

    In Alberta, two kinds of exchanges are possible for apowerful professional development experiences. Theseare:

    1. One Year Exchanges - These exchanges enableteachers in Alberta to swap their jobs (and homes) withteachers in countries such as Australia, New Zealand,United Kingdom, and the United States, Germany, andother for a period of one year. During this time, theteacher continues to be paid by his/her school board in

    Alberta, when the year is over again the teacher returnshome to his original position in Alberta.

    2. Short- term Exchanges This exchange which occurduring the spring and summer holidays, enable theteachers and administrators to job shadow with thecounterpart in another country.

    5. Global Teachers Millennium Awards

    Although this program is limited only toparticipating countries, It is important to learn thatGlobal teacher Exchange program contribute tothe quality of teachers worldwide.

    Change the live UK educators personally andprofessionally by encouraging them to fulfilltheir aspiration and use their talents ininnovative ways,

    Ensure benefits for staff and pupils of UKschools under local communities through thedissemination of innovative developmenteducation.

    Support the aims and activities of Linkss educational program in South Africa, Ghana,and Uganda

    Set a standard and develop model for other similarscheme

    It is the intent of the program to achieve learningoutcomes among the target partners of the Unite Kingdomin terms of:

    A. Increase knowledge of people and life in developing

    countriesB. Better understanding of how UK is linked with other

    countriesC. More positive attitudes toward people and life in

    developing countries challenging stereotypes andbeliefs in shared humanity

    D. More positive attitudes towards multicultural nature ofUK society-challenging of stereotypes and embracing ofdiversity.
