CONDITIONS
1. Entries are free, and open to all members of an orchid society, excluding commercial growers.
2. No one plant may be entered in more than one class.
3. All entries will be received from 4 pm and must be tabled not later than 7.30 pm on the Friday night before the show. Judging will commence at 8pm. All persons not involved in the judging must leave the area by 8.00
p.m.
4. Plants eligible for competition must have been owned and grown by the exhibitor for at least six months prior to the show.
5. Exhibitors are required to label plants clearly and legibly with the correct plant name. If the plant name has been lost, the label should read ‘Name unknown’.
6. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to correctly complete the plant labels with exhibitor’s number. No responsibility taken for not awarding prizes to plants with illegible, wrong or missing numbers.
7. The only flowering plants other than orchids which may be used in any display are anthuriums.
8. Plants eligible for competition must be placed on the show benches in order to be judged. Individual plants mounted in displays class 33 will also be judged in plant competition but plants must have separate entry labels in nominated class.
9. The judge’s decision is final.
10. No plant may be removed from its position in the show until the show is formally closed.
11. No blooms are to be interfered with.
12. No plants are to be moved without the permission of the stewards or show captain
13. The Brisbane Orchid Society will take all care to safeguard exhibits, but will not accept any responsibility for loss, destruction or damage to the plants.
14. Photographs may be taken, but not during judging. Photographers must take care not to inconvenience show patrons.
15. All exhibits and exhibitors shall conform to the Rules and By-Laws of the Brisbane Orchid Society Inc. The Society reserves the right to reject any plant showing symptoms of pests and diseases.
16. A novice exhibitor shall mean any BOS member who has not been excluded from the novice section of the monthly meetings and who has never won a first placing or higher award in the novice section of a BOS Show. This does not include the floral art Classes.
17. An intermediate exhibitor shall mean any BOS member who has not been excluded from the intermediate section of the monthly meetings and who has never won a first placing or higher in an open section of a BOS Show. This does not include the floral art Classes.
18. Plant staking must conform to AOC standards. Plants not staked in accordance to those standards may be disqualified. That is no staking or tying on the ovaries.
19. Fire Ant Regulations must be adhered to.
20. Plant sales purchased on Friday night will be limited to BOS Members,exhibitors and judges only.21. Plant sales on Fridat night will open at 4:30pm and close at 7:30pm.
Floral Art Conditions
Decorative arrangements and corsages may include natural or artificial embellishments, however orchids must predominate.
