Brinnon Area Newsletter APRIL 2016
Brinnon Community Soup and Supper Club By Rick Meyer
The Brinnon Community Soup and Supper Club operates under the auspices of the Brinnon Senior Organization, and is open to anyone in the Brinnon Community and
visitors to our area. The all-volunteer staff of cooks strives to provide the very best of home style cooking in preparing soup, Monday and Friday, from 11:00 — 1:00, and a dinner meal each Wednesday, starting at 5:00 pm. Both are served at the Brinnon
Community Center and everyone and anyone is welcome. Soups are walk-in, first come first serve, but reservations are requested by Tuesday or earlier for the evening meal on
Wednesday. This allows the cooks ample planning and preparation time.
A donation price of $2.50 is requested for regular soups and $3.50 for special soups, such as Clam Chowder, or for the soup and sandwich combination. A cookie dessert is included with all soups. For the normal Wednesday dinner meal, a donation price of
$5.00 is requested. Dinner generally consists of a main entrée, a starch and vegetable accompanied with salad and dessert. For special meals of pork spareribs or pork loin
roast, a donation price of $6.00 is requested.
This is probably the best deal anywhere on Hood Canal and a great way to get out and enjoy some good cooking and engaging company. If you have a special meal or soup
you have not had in a while, pass your request and recipe to the cooks and every effort will be made to accommodate you. Menus are posted in the Crier and throughout the
Brinnon/Quilcene area at the beginning of each month.
Attend a Meeting at the Community Center to learn how Habitat for Humanity can assist you. Thursday,
April 7th at 10 AM at the Community Center.
Sponsored by the Brinnon Senior Organization.

PROTECT YOURSELF FROM FRAUD
Bank Message: You may receive a text mes-sage claiming to be your bank or credit card company. The message will say there is a prob-lem with your account. You are instructed to click on an included link, which leads to a look-alike, scammer-run website that seeks your name, account number and online log-in creden-tials.
If there is really an account problem, you will probably get a phone call from the bank or credit card company with a fraud alert. You can then call either one for further information.
Do not ever click on the website. Call the bank or credit card company.

Rick Brown New Park and Rec Chair
In a recent interview with new Park and Recreation Chair, Rick Brown, he shared his goals for the organization.
“We have a chance to do quality things for our community. I am hoping that we can follow a plan of action and do things that are measurable.”
Parks and Recreation has already estab-lished an open relationship with the school. Open Gym is held each Thursday night from 6-7 PM.
The Board would like to see some sum-mertime activities for our children: possi-ble swimming classes, summer camp, and sailing classes.
Rick also wanted to remind the community that they are still in need of two more commissioners.
