LearnersusetheAssignmentstooltouploadandsubmitassignmentsubmissionstoassignmentsubmissionfoldersinBrightspaceLearningEnvironment,eliminatingtheneedtomail,fax,oremailtheirworktoinstructors.

InstructorsusetheAssignmentstooltoseeusers’submissiontimes,downloadassignmentsubmissionfolderstotheircomputer,viewsubmissionsontheEvaluateSubmissionpage,associateassignmentsubmissionfolderstorubricsandcompetencies,andreturnsubmissionswithgradesandfeedback.

IntheFolderSubmissionsarea,instructorscanviewusers'submissionsandsubmissiondates,eliminatingtheneedtocollectassignmentsandmakingiteasytotrackwhenfilesweresubmitted.

Instructorscancreatecategoriestogroupandorganizeassignmentsubmissionfolders.Theycanalsorestrictaccesstoassignmentsubmissionfoldersbydateandtime,groupmembership,orspecialaccesspermissions.

Organizeyourassignmentsubmissionfoldersintocategoriestomakeiteasierforuserstonavigatetotheappropriatefolder.Forexample,youcancreateseparatecategoriesforcourseunits,summativeprojects,bonusassignments,andindividualsubmissions.YournewcategorywillappearontheAssignmentsubmissionfolderspageonlyifthereareassignmentsubmissionfoldersassociatedwithit.

1. Onthenavbar,click Assignments.

2. OntheAssignmentSubmissionFolderspage,clickNewSubmissionFolder.

3. IntheFolderPropertiesarea,clicktheNewCategorylink.

4. Enteranameforyourcategory.

5. ClickSave.

1. Onthenavbar,clickAssignments.

2. OntheAssignmentSubmissionFolderspage,clickNewSubmissionFolder.

3. EnteraName.

4. SelectaFolderType.Groupsubmissionfolderenablesyoutohaveonesubmissionpergroup,butyoumustassociatethefolderwithaGroupCategory.Anygroupmembercansubmitandviewfilesforagroupassignmentsubmissionfolder.

5. Doanyofthefollowing:

• Toassociatetheassignmentsubmissionfolderwithacategory,selectaCategoryorclickNewCategory.

• Toassociatetheassignmentsubmissionfolderwithagradeiteminyourgradebook,selectaGradeItem,orclickNewGradeItem.Notethatonlynumericgradeitemscanbeassociatedwithassignmentsubmissionfolders.

• Toassignascore,enteravalueintheOutOffield.Ifthere'salsoanassociatedgradeitem,maintainconsistencybymatchingthevalueoftheOutOffieldtothegradeitem'sMax.Pointsvalue.

• Tochangethedisplaysettingsforthefolder'sgradeitem,clicktheStudentViewPreviewcontextmenu,thenEditDisplaySettings.

• Toassociatearubrictothefolder,clickAddRubric,orCreateRubricinNewWindow.

• Toprovideinstructionstousers,intheInstructionsrichtextfield,enteryourinstructions.

• ToallowlearnerstoaddthefoldertotheirePortfolioasartifacts,selectAllowuserstoaddthisfoldertotheirePortfolio.

• Toaddattachments,intheAttachedFilesarea,clickanyofthebuttons.

• Tochangesubmissionoptions,expandShowSubmissionOptionsandselecttheappropriatesettings.

ReleaseconditionsallowyoutoassociateanassignmentsubmissionfolderwithotheritemsinBrightspaceLearningEnvironment.Forexample,youcanrequirethatusersmeetsomecriteria,suchasreadingasetoflecturenotesinContent,beforetheycansubmittheirworktoanassignmentsubmissionfolder.Youcanalsomakesubmissiontotheassignmentsubmissionfolderacriterionforaccessinganotheritem,suchasaquiz.

1. Onthenavbar,click Assignments.

2. OntheAssignmentSubmissionFolderspage,fromthecontextmenuoftheassignmentsubmissionfolderyou

wanttosetreleaseconditionsfor,click EditSubmissionFolder.

3. IntheRestrictionstab,intheReleaseConditionsarea,dooneofthefollowing:

• ClickAttachExisting,thenselectthecheckboxforanyconditionyouwanttoattach.ClickAttach.

• ClickCreateandAttach,thenselectaConditionTypefromthedrop-downlist.CompleteanyadditionalConditionDetailsthatappearandclickCreate.

Ifyoucreateacompetencystructureaspartofacourseoffering,itisaccessibleonlywithinthatcourseoffering.Forexample,youcancreateacompetencytorepresenttheentirecourse,learningobjectivestorepresentspecificunits,andassociateactivitiestoeachunit.

Youcancreatecompetencystructuresinsideorgunitssuchasdepartments,semesters,ortheorganizationtotrackusers’achievementsbeyondacourseoffering.Youcanalsosharethesecompetencystructureswithmultiplecourseofferingsandevaluatethecompetenciesandlearningobjectiveswithinspecificchildorgunits.Thisenablesuserstocompletethecompetencyinstagesovertime,workingondifferentlearningobjectiveswithindifferentcourses.Ifacompetencystructureislargeandcomplex,acquiringalltheknowledgeandskillsassociatedwithitmightinvolvemanylearningexperiencesacrossseveralcourses.

System Description

Weighted Theweightedsystemcalculatesgradeitemsasapercentageofafinalgradeworth100%.Themaximumpointsyouassigntoindividualgradeitemscanbeanyvalue,buttheircontributiontowardsthecategorytheybelongtoandthefinalgradeisthepercentagevalue(weight)assignedtothem.

Gradeitemsinacategorycountasapercentageofthatcategory,notofthefinalgrade.Therefore,gradeitemsinacategoryshouldcombinetoaweightof100%.

Forexample,ifyouhaveacategoryworth10%ofthefinalgradewithtwoequallyweightedgradeitems,theweightofeachgradeitemis50%,(itscontributiontothecategory),not5%(itscontributiontothefinalgrade).

Sinceit'sacategory’sweightandnotanindividualgradeitem’sweightthatcountstowardthefinalgrade,thefinalgradeisinaccurateuntilalltheitemsinthecategoryaregraded.Releasingcalculatedfinalgradestousersbeforetheendofthecoursemightbemisleading.

Ifyourgradeitemsdonotaddupto100%,youwillreceiveawarningmessage.Youcanignorethismessageifyouchoose;abalancedgradebookisnotrequired.Iftheweightsassignedtogradeitemsdonotsumto100%,thetooladjuststheweightofeachitem.Forexample,ifyouhavethreegradeitemswithaweightof25%each,eachitemisactuallycalculatedas33%.Thisistrueforcategoriesandthefinalgrade.

Points Usethepointssystemwhenyouwantthemaximumpointsassignedtoagradeitemtobeequaltoitscontributiontothefinalgrade.Finalgradesarecalculatedbyaddingauser’sscoreonallgradeitemstogetheranddividingbythesumofthemaximumpointsvalues.Thesumofthemaximumpointsvaluesforallgradeitemsdoesnotneedtoequal100.

Withthepointssystemyoudonotspecifyacategory’sweightortotalpoints.Itisthemaximumpointsassignedtoanindividualgradeitemthatcountstowardthefinalgrade.

Makesurethemaximumpointsassignedtogradeitemsreflecthowmuchyouwantthemtobeworth.Forexample,don’tgradeeachofyour20homeworkassignmentsoutof50pointsandthenyourfinalexamoutof80points.

SetupsurveyreportsSurveyreportsgatherinformationonsurveydata.Surveyreportsaredifferentfromsurveyresults;theycollectandpresentmoretypesofinformationthanisavailablethroughresults.Chooseareporttypetodisplayquestionstatistics,questiondetails,userstatistics,attemptdetails,oruserattempts.Youcanalsoselectareleasedateandchoosewhichroleshavepermissiontovieweachreport.

• IndividualAttempts-Thisreportdisplayseachattemptindividually.Youcanchoosetohidetheuser’sfirstandlastnamewhentheIndividualAttemptsreportisviewed.

6. Youcanchoosetoimmediatelyreleaseareportafterasurveysubmission,orenteranalternatedateandtime.

7. IntheReleaseReportTosection,selectthecheckboxbesideeachroleyouwanttoreleasethereportto.

8. ClickSave.

ViewasurveyreportYoucanexportsurveystatisticsandreportstoaCSVfilefordataanalysis.TheCSVfilecontainsallpertinentinformationfromthesurveysothatyoucanquery,sort,andevaluatethedatawithoutbeingconnectedtothelearningmanagementsystem.YoumustsetupsurveyreportsfromtheReportsSetuptabfortheappropriatesurveybeforeyoucanvieworexportreports.
