Green LightDesign & engineeringCollaboration with Green Light

BRIGHT company is a partner of the European

program GreenLight, a initiative that is promoted by

the European Committee and aims at the reduction

of energy consumption of interior and exterior lighting

of Europe, consequently, the reduction of pollutant

emissions and world temperature because of the

phenomenon of greenhouse. The objective is also to

improve the light quality conditions decreasing the

overall cost.

Energy-EfficientLighting DesignSaving energy solutions

The protection of the environment and saving energy

solutions are the primal principles that BRIGHT SPECIAL

LIGHTING S.A. company sets up for the selection of

engineering materials and the design of the lighting

fixtures. It is estimated that approximately 35% of the

consuming electrical energy in buildings is used for

lighting. The energy efficient lighting solutions and the

use of products with low energy cost contributes in

saving energy and low environmental impact.

BRIGHT Special Lighting S.A. produces luminaires

according to the GREEN LIGHT specifications for

energy consumption. The architectural design team

EcoLighting LabRedesigning lighting

Management of lighting

The illumination of a space with technologically

advanced lighting systems and lamps to achieve

desirable levels of lighting and high aesthetic is not

enough to constitute an efficient lighting proposal

that reduces the energy consumption. It is needed at

the same time a right management of these systems

to ensure their high performance and to decrease

their cost of maintenance.

With priority the protection of environment, BRIGHT

provides saving energy lighting studies with lighting

management systems, such as DALI and BAS. The

control systems are computerized, intelligent networks

of electronic devices, designed to monitor and control

the mechanical and lighting systems in a building.

They offer light intensity control and apply various

lighting scenarios based on occupancy schedule. The

lighting management involves usage of devices, such

as sensors and photocells. The combination of using

low consumption lamps, especially of LED technology,

and lighting management systems offers significant

reduction of energy and economic costs.

BRIGHT Engineering Department

The design department of BRIGHT, with industrial design

engineers produce new types of lightning bodies, high

aesthetic and better lightning output. The new systems

of lighting are developed in step with architecture and

market needs. Basic tools of planning are the

ergonomy, the aesthetic and originality.

One of the main priorities of BRIGHT SPECIAL LIGHTING

S.A. is the protection of the environment by using the

appropriate materials and accessories (e.g. lamps,

ballasts...) for the luminaires production. The lighting

designers are devoted to create and plan the lighting

projects according to the energy saving principles.

Introduction toLED Technology

LED (Lighting Emitting Diode)

LED or solid-state lighting brings over a new

technology which offers “green” lighting and

energy saving planning. Its small size offers freedom

and flexibility for engineers to design lighting

solutions with minimal ecological foot-print and

zero emission of heat. LED is a semiconductor light

source that emits light when conducting current.

Initially, LEDs emitted red, green and blue color and

only by mixing them together could emit the white

color. Afterwards, in order to simplify the way white

color was produced engineers applied on the

semiconductor phosphor.

LEDs were first used in electrical appliances as

status indicators. Afterwards, the high power LEDs

came into market in blue and white colour. These

LEDs require refrigeration to avoid overheating.

For this reason LEDs of over 3 Watt are equipped

with heat sinks. Light-emitting diodes can last up to

80.000 hours when they are supplied with precise

current and heat sink.

In the last few years, LEDs have become one of

the most preferable technology in lighting market.

Their advantages and the effort to adjust the cost

in logical prices made them first choice in

renovations and new buildings.

The largest companies, supermarkets, logistics and

offices replace their fixtures with other new, more

efficient, of low consumption energy that operate

with LED lamps.

The advantages of LEDLED Technical specifications

Small size

LEDs can be very small providing flexibility in

planning. Because of their size can be applied in

interior spaces and also on building facades.

Long operational life

LEDs can have a relatively long useful life estimated

up to 80.000 hours. They last much longer compare

to incandescent lamps with 1.000-1.200 hours and

fluorescent lamps with 6.000-15.000 hours.

Low energy consumption

Up to 80% lower energy consumption than

incandescent lamps.

Efficiency

LEDs generate more lumens per watt than

incandescent bulbs.

On/off time

LEDs have fast response time. It needs microsecond

to light up completely.

Heat

LEDs radiate very little heat in the form of IR that

can cause damage to sensitive objects or fabrics.

Low maintenance cost

LED lamps are more expensive than the common

ones. However, this cost is counterbalanced with

the low consumption of energy and their long life

time.

basically a measure of how realistic colours look when they are lit by a lamp.

Types of LED Lamps

LED I New forms in lighting technology

LED lamps are designed to replace common lamps of high energy consumption such as incandescence and halogen achieving up to 80% saving

energy. This percentage is much lower when LEDs replace lamps of high efficiency and low energy consumption such as Metal halide, fluorescent,

CFL. The consumer should take into account not only the amount of consumption but also the luminous efficacy of the fixture (lumen/watt) for the

best lighting result. The saving energy lighting studies must be applied wherever high energy consumption fixtures are used or where older technology

lamps (incandescent) are applied so as to be a profitable investment.

LED I Planning the Future

In addition to new technology LED lamps, that save up to 80% energy,

there are LED accessories which are adapted in the new luminaires. Their

morphological characteristics utilize them into smart design systems and

are applied in architectural studies with dimensional constraints and high

requirements.

Mini LED, H.P.LED, SMD LED, SOLID STATE LED, TAPE LED and Module H.P.LED

LENSES are new lighting elements adapted in custom-made fixtures.

Special reflectors, glasses and power suppliers increase light efficiency of

the fixtures. A refrigeration circulation system is provided to prevent

overheating and ensure effective system performance. This system also

ensures the long operational life of LED.

Depending on the mA supplied on the solid state LED, their luminous flux

is increased. For instance, a solid state LED warm white with 1500mA

provides 1730lm. By increasing the mA (to 2000mA) the luminous efficacy

becomes 2330lm.

TAPE LEDIt is a flexible thin tape equipped with small LED units in line. There are

two types of tape LED with gel and without. Tape LED is a widespread

energy lighting system and it has a wide application in showcases. It is

also suitable for decorative lighting and facades. The innovation of the

system is based on its low carbon footprint, its environmentally friendly

lighting, its low temperature and its small size. Also, its materials are

mercury-free.

SOLID STATE LEDSOLID STATE LED lamp is a latest technology system with lighting output

from 240 to 4500 lumens depending on its power supply type. For its

operation a special intelligent power supply is used with capability to

change its lighting output (Lumens) according to the requirements.

Optionally, it is provided with dimmer and system BAS or DALI

management. System LED is applied in three temperatures color 3000K

(warm), 4100K (neutral) and 5600K (cool white). Moreover, there is a choice

among three different reflectors: narrow, medium, wide beam.
