2014-15

1. INITIATIVES TAKEN TO ACHIEVE THE OBJECTIVES:

a. Several new activities were carried out these times which were not done earlier uptil now.

b. Student’s involvements in social and noble causes were increased by promoting them to carry out new activities for general awareness.

c. Inculcate some new ideas by donating extra time along with their academics.

d. Tie up with Youth Club and SGCCI youth team and build up some new environment, so they can have some better space and area to work upon.

e. Students were promoted to take part in the National and International conferences by sparing some money from SAC.

f. Departments were given some amount to bring up some more involvement of students for Industrial Visits.

g. Ideas of Donation were brought upon to create sensible sense among the students so that they can build up that sort of thoughts in future too after their studies.

h. Platform was given to several students to showcase their ideas among the students and in public in general during several programmes.

i. New initiative in form of Dance, Music & Yoga, TED and Photography club was introduced so that students can showcase their talents in the right way and at right place and this was running successful.

j. Department techfest at unique time and date was introduced this time.

k. Several committees were formed under the banner of SAC this time and each of them is doing their work successfully.

BADMINTON TOURNAMENT

Our College has organized Intercollegiate Surat Zone Badminton (M) Tournament at Sir. K. P. Commerce College dated 30-31/7/14. Nearly 15 colleges have participated in the said tournament from our zone. The result of the said tournament is as follows. Champion: SVMIT, Bharuch, Runner's up: GEC, Bharuch. Performance of our college: Semifinalist.

BLOOD DONATION With immense pleasure I am proud to share that our college stands 2nd in Social activities (Blood donation) among all the (Arts, Science, commerce etc) colleges of Surat city. Published in 11/8/2014 Sandesh Daily. Credit goes to Niket Shastri and his team due to his never tiring efforts.

SANSKRUTIK SWADHYAY KASAUTI

& LECTURE ON HOW TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE

"Sanskrutik Swadhyay Kasauti" was conducted in SCET campus on 8/8/14. This exam was conducted every year by Swami Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari. Total 43 students have registered in the exam and it was successfully conducted within our campus.

A series of lectures was float to entire first year students under the banner of Swami Vivekananda Kendra, Surat Chapter on the topic "How to become Successful in life" nicely conducted by the Volunteers of Swami Vivekananda Kendra, Surat. We have covered all the student of Ist year of all the branches within one week span from 13/8/14 to 16/8/14. The gracious presence of Tenzing didi, Surat Nagar Sangathak of Swami Vivekananda Kendra had motivated student too.

Ganichacha” Janmajayanti Kavya lekhan Spardha

I am glad to share that the entries for the Poetry competition conducted during Exuberance 2014 (total 18) are being sent to Rashtriya Kalakendra under the banner “Ganichacha” Janmajayanti Kavya lekhan Spardha. This was conducted under the leadership of Prof. Sandhya Rathore and her entire Art and Intellect Committee. The same poetry was awarded with the prizes to the respective students.

Champion at Surat Zone Table Tennis Tournament (Girl's)

It's my pleasure to share you all that our college stood Champion at Surat Zone Table Tennis Tournament (Girl's)organized by C. K. Pithawala College of Engineering & Technology on 13/8/14.

Following Girls were the pioneer in achieving this championship under the leadership of our sport's instructor Mr. Dilip L Patel and entire Gymkhana Committee. Team comprises of, Prof. Amit Mehta and Prof. Niket Shastri 1. Gautam Monika (C) - 4th Computer. 2. Kala Juhi - 2nd Chemical. 3. Shah Jhanvi - 2nd Computer. 4. Agrawal Divya - 1st Computer. I congratulate all of them for their wonderful performance. They will now play for the Inter Zone tournament on 20th of this month at Rajkot for Zonal Championship.

LECTURE SERIES ON LEADERSHIP, STRESS MANAGEMENT AND WORK ETHICS

Target Audience: B.E Ist Year Students Course Conductor: Mr. Apurva Mandalaywala, Associate Prof. IT Dept. Subject: Life Skill (Bridge Course) Duration: October 2014 Faculty Co-ordinator; Dr. Nitin Vibhakar, Dr. Hitesh Desai, Prof. Rohit Dudhat A series of lectures were conducted on Leadership, Stress Management and Work Ethics to the entire B.E Ist year students to groom, motivate and invoke their inner conscience with the help of one of our faculty Mr. Apurva Mandalaywala Assistant Professor, Information & Technology Department. The same activity is based on the syllabus framed under the Life Skill of Bridge Course. The main goal to carry out such programme is only that the students perform well in their entire four year of degree programme. It was nicely been executed under the flaw ship of Mr. Apurva.

GTU GIRLS BADMINTON INTER ZONAL AND SURAT ZONE CHAMPIONSHIP

It's my pleasure to share you all that our college stood Champion at GTU Surat Zone Badminton Tournament (Girl's) on 23/8/14 and further Champion at GTU Inter Zonal Tournament (Girl's) on 25/8/14 on playing final against L D College of Engineering & Technology. Nearly 8 team has participated in Inter Zonal Tournament under the bannerGTU Zone Badminton Girl's Championship. This event was organized at Sarvajanik College of Engineering & Technology under the banner of Gujarat Technology University from 22/8/14 to 25/814.

Following Girls were the pioneer in achieving this championship under the leadership of our sport's instructor Mr. Dilip L Patel and entire Gymkhana Committee comprises of Prof. Amit Mehta and Prof. Niket Shastri. The team comprises of, 1. Shah Jhanvi (C) - 2nd Computer. 2. Gautam Monika - 4th Computer. 3. Heena - 1st Electronics & Communication. 4. Pavitra Thacker - 1st Computer (E) I congratulate all of them for their hard work and wonderful performance at both level. I request respected faculties to publish the same at proper place and appreciate their students. YOGA CLASSES IN SCC (BRIDGE COURSE)

We have successfully runned the Yoga classes in our Student Cadet Cops subject of Ist year with the help of our college faculties one from IC dept, Mr. Nandkishore Joshi and another from Chemical Dept, Mr. Ashish Parmar at third floor Library Dept daily morning from 8:30 AM as an activity towards the Bridge Course. Following thing has been carried out during three weeks:

Following yoga exercises was taught and told to the students to practice it daily to keep them healthy. Following yogasana was taught.

1) Sarvangasana 2) Halasana 3) Dhanurasana 4) Bhujangasana 5) Pad paschimottanasana 6) Ardha matsyendrasana 7) Konasana 8) Kati saundaryasana 9) Tadasana 10) Shavasana 11) Surya namaskar Exercises to relax and strengthen muscular system and nervous system were also taught. In theory part, explanation related to structure of inner body (chakras system). The season cycle (Aahar Vihar) to be followed to prevent diseases. If students follow this yoga regularly, they will remain healthy. Their memory power and discipline will also increase. Following topics were covered during the different sessions. 1. Knowledge point: Seven levels of existence was covered in the knowledge point. It gave a strange effect of silence in the students' mind. 2. Suryanamskar: The 12 poses of suryanamaskar with proper breathing pattern and at different speeds. 3. Pranayam: Bhastrika, Avulom-Vilom, Bhramary. It helped to empty the mind, and energize the body. 4. Padma Saadhana: The combination of 12-15 aasanas. 30 min. of yoga including 10 mins of silent meditation. The review of student was very much satisfactory.

It's my pleasure to share you all that our college stood Champion at GTU Surat Zone Football Tournament (Boys) on 28/8/14. Nearly 20 team has participated from surat zone. This event was organized at Bhagwan Mahavir College of Engineering & Technology under the banner of GTU Surat Zone Football Boys Championship from 27/8/14 to 28/814.

CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

It's my pleasure to share you all that our college stood Champion at GTU Inter Zonal Cross Country Championship on 6/9/14. Nearly 27 students have participated from all zones of GTU. This event was organized on 6/9/14 at Bhagwan Mahavir College of Engineering & Technology under the banner of GTU Inter Zonal Cross Country Championship.

Following studnets were the pioneer in achieving this championship under the leadership of our sport's instructor Mr. Dilip L Patel and entire Gymkhana Committee comprises of Prof. Amit Mehta and Prof. Niket Shastri. BLOOD DONATION CAMP SEPT-14

On behalf of Student Activity Council, It's my privilege to share with you all that on 16/9/14 we have arranged a blood donation camp at SCET DOME from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. An overwhelming response was achieved and it is first time in the history of SCET that we can able to manage to collect 280 Units of blood at the end of the day. This achievement is due to never tiring effort of Mr. Niket Shastri (Co-ordinator), Mr. Khagen Contractor (G.S.) and Shlesha Doctor (L.R.) and entire student team. I am thankful to entire staff SCET and all the students who became a part of this event.

24/9/14 XITIJ YOUTH FESTIVAL – 2014

SURAT ZONE The successful completion of the GTU Surat Zone Youth Festival-14 on 21-22-23 September 2014 was one another feather in the cap of SCET. I would like to inform you that an overwhelming response in participation had received from several colleges falling under GTU Surat Zone. 20 colleges with nearly 520 students had taken part in the different events of Youth Festival which includes Art, Literature & Debate, Music, Dance and Theater. SCET performance is an overwhelming; we have received overall championship with 66 points and stoods 1st in the Surat Zone. Also in the individual category we have received three championships out of five, which includes Literature & Debate, Theater, and Dance. This achievement is only due to untiring efforts of the Students participants who had worked hard throughout from so many days, Co-ordinator Mr. Niket Shastri, different faculties who trained students for the particular events and entire team of teachers and student co-ordinators of different events listed above. Also i will not forget G.S and L.R of our college who had worked very hard day and night to make whole event a Grand Success which was acclaimed by Guests Mr. Shishir Ramavat (Writer-Chitralekha, Mumbai Samachar, Sandesh), Shri Pratik Gandhi (Actor "Be Yaar" fame) and Capt. C.S Sanghvi (Chairman, Board of Cultural Activities, GTU).

22/9/14 CANCER RALLY

Cancer Rally was organized on 21/9/14 by Lions Cancer Detection Centre, Civil Hospital, Surat, to spread awareness among the students and the entire people in general for cancer. Our students were also participated in the same. Also our students have created a fund of Rs. 15,411/- by collecting it from students and the people vide generous donation which was further donated to Civil Hospital, Lion’s Cancer Detection Centre. Receipt is attached herewith. Mr. Yash Makwana and Mr. Pratik Sangani of IIIrd year IT were nominated to functionalize the same event.

Blood Donation Trophy

On Sunday 5/10/2014 SCET has received Runners up trophies from Surat Raktdan Kendra in its 38th Annual General Meeting for the year 2013-14 in college categories for collecting maximum no of blood units. This we have achieved first time and it is the effort of the GS, LR, Student Activity Council and Prof. Niket Shastri which made this possible. Shri Kamleshbhai Yagnik (Chairman Representative, SCET) and Shri. R D Desai (Member Governing Body, SCET) was also a part of recipient.

11/1/2015 BLOOD DONATION AWARD RECEIVED

SCET has received a Youth Icon Award from one of the leading NGO YUVA Unbeatable who is working for the poor and downtrodden under privileged students along with several activities related to public health care mission swachh abhiyan etc. The award is received on the basis of the work which we have carried out in our campus by our students.

12/1/15 SOCIAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME BEFORE KITE FLYING

DISTRIBUTION OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA BOOKS DISTRIBUTION OF KITE WHICH EMBARKED DONATE BODY ORGANS

Under the banner of Student Activity Council one Traffic awareness sense programme and distribution of neck protector was carried out on 14th January 2015 by students. Also in month of January distribution of Swami Vivekanand books was carried out among the students and staff was done along with SGCCI youth wing. Distribution of Kites mentioning donation of body organs and blood was also done during the same month to create social awareness.

25/1/2015 Rashtriya Matdatta Divas

As per Government and DTE circular dated 9/1/2015 regarding the Oath to be taken on Rashtriya Matdatta Divas for the new voters and further programme to be conducted on the same. Our students had carried out one such programme on 25/1/2015 for the same. The oath was taken by the Principal, Staff and new voter students.

GANDHI NIRVAAN DIN, DRAWING COMPETITION-30/1/2015 SWACHHATA ABHIYAN

As a part of Gandhi Nirvan Day celebration, a state level drawing competition was organized on 30/1/2015 and further swacchhta abhiyan. It was carried out under the banner of Literature and Debate Committee of SAC. The same event is carried out to nominate the name for the 'Limca Book of Records' for organising the competition all over the state at the same time in all the schools and colleges for having maximum student’s participation. Nearly 288 students of SCET have also taken part in the same event and made history. Further the safai abhiyan was carried out in every dept by the students and faculties also youth club too have joined in the same and carried out safai abhiyan in campus and out of the campus on the road.

5/2/2014 INTERCOLLEGIATE SINGING COMPETITION

An intercollege singing competition was held on 5th february at Malvi hall, T&TV high school, Athwagate. It was organised by Sarvajanik Education Society, sponsored by Shri Bhadresh Shah Foundation and inspired by Virmati Fakirchand Shah Charitable Trust. Aishwerya Kapoor, a student from BE 1st year CO represented SCET and secured third position in the category of 'college students'.

Aishwerya Kapoor also stood third at SDJ Inferno 2015 - Voice of inferno competition (Solo Singing) held on 12th feb at SDJ International College, Vesu.

It's my pleasure to share you all that our college stood Runners up at GTU Inter Zonal 2nd Athletic Meets on 11-12/2/15 organized at SVIT, Vasad Venue is M.S University Campus.

2/3/15 NOMINATION FOR GANDHIAN AWARD

It gives me immense pleasure in informing you that our two final year students of Chemical Engineering department SCET, Abhimanyu Rathi & Vikas Mishra have been nominated for Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award for their projects on

1) Solar cell from e-waste/ Water Purification System and Photovoltaic Panels SRISTI (Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions) has established three national awards for innovative student projects in engineering, pharmacy, science and other applied technologies. These will be given away by Dr.R.A.Mashelkar, Chairperson of NIF at Rashtrapati Bhavan in March 2015.

They have applied under the category of "Sristi socially relevant technological innovation award".

7/3/2015 GTU SAINIK WELFARE FUND

Every year 7th December is enjoyed as a Sainik Din. To pay respect and homage to our martyrs GTU has announced to collect some fund for Sainik welfare. This time we have done a collection worth Rs. 41510/- as on today. We have to submit the same amount in the form of Draft to GTU latest by 15/3/2015. Probably within one or two days we reached to the target of Rs. 45,000/- The collection of this fund is due to the effort of Mr. Satish Dokipati and Mr. Amit Mehta of Mechanical Engineering Dept.

HEALTH AWARENESS & MEDICAL CHECKUP CAMP

One more program was organized in SARVAJANIK COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY for the welfare of Girls under the banner of SAC which was based on “Awareness of health and Medical checkup for girls”.

This was organized by the Doctor Shlesha, Lady Representative of SCET with the help of Dr. Pratima Desai, Convenor of the Women’s Development Cell under the motivation of Dr. Mayank Dalal, Dean of the Student Activity Council.

This program was conducted by Dr.Sonia Chandnani, the owner of Bombay Maternity & Surgical Hospital.

About Dr. Sonia Chandnani:

She is a Gynaecologist & Obstetrician by profession. Obtained Gold medals in her M.B.B.S. She passed her D.G.O & F.C.P.S from Mumbai. Attended many seminars in India and abroad as a Faculty member.

She is very interested in uplifting the standards of Ladies Health in the society. About TALK SHOW: A talkshow was arranged where around 300 students had taken part in it along with

the female faculties.

Information regarding B-12, Breast cancer and vaginal cancer was provided. Students were enjoying some Aerobics steps and stretching exercises along with

the Doctors and Dieticians.

About Medical checkup Camp:

About 200 students had taken the advantage of the camp even. Our Chief Guest was Dr. Jyotsana Singh, a gynaecologist. She is the wife of Income

Tax Commissioner of Surat.

With the help of Dr. Sonia and her team, following checkups were done: Thyroid & Haemoglobin test by Unipath Lab. Eye Checkup by Vasan Eye care. Self Breast examination BMI test Dental checkup Joint examination

It's my pleasure to share you all that our college stood CHAMPION at SURAT ZONE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT on 21-22/3/15 organised at SCET, SURAT. Following student were the pioneer in achieving this championship under the leadership of our sport's instructor Mr. Dilip L Patel and entire Gymkhana Committee comprises of Prof. Amit Mehta, Prof. Niket Shastri and Prof. Chitrak Desai. BLOOD DONATION & ORGAN DONATION CAMP APRIL-15

On behalf of Student Activity Council, It's my privilege to share with you all that on 9/4/15 we have arranged a blood donation camp at SCET DOME from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We can able to manage to collect 68 Units of blood at the end of the day. Also we can able to manage to collect the form of student and staff willingness to donate the organs. This achievement is due to never tiring effort of Mr. Niket Shastri (Co-ordinator), Mr. Khagen Contractor (G.S.) and Shlesha Doctor (L.R.) and entire student team.

GOLD MEDAL RECEIVED BY THE STUDENTS

Student of Sarvajanik College of Engg & Technology had received the Gold Medal awarded by Gujarat Governor Mr. O P Kohli during the GTU Degree Award Function at Chandkheda Ahmedabad on 22/1/2015. The same Medal was received by the following students
