Introduction – Project Focus and Outcomes

Country Project Focus: Inclusive policies and services for equal access to employment for persons with disabilities in Sudan.

Outcome 1: Increased awareness and coordination on mainstreaming disability approach in development cooperation

Outcome 2: Support capacity of public institutions (NCPD) and Ministry of Welfare to collect disaggregated data, increase awareness on accessibility and inclusiveness and promote equal access to employment

Framework AICS – Italian Cooperation

• With BtG-II, AICS has strengthened its commitment towards the rights of PwD trough a multi-sector stakeholders participative approach. AICS is completely committed to mainstream the disability perspective in all its Development Cooperation promoting Art. 32 of the CRPD and the Guidelines on Disability Mainstreaming 2018

• The Project is in line with the Joint Implementation with operative and financial cooperation with different EU actors and partners as stated by the document “Working Better Together – EU and Member States Joint Programming” from June 2019. AICS contributed to its realization and promotion and it provides now important suggestions on wihich the Italian Cooperation relies for its activity in all the Partner Countries.

What to retain so far?The grantees activities have a high level of participation and very appreciated by local and national authorities.

Increased connections between OPDs, public institutions and private sector.

Growing participation of OPDs with the coordination of NCPD to public policies workshop.

Sustained momentum with the international community interest and participation from development and humanitarian practitioners for an effective mainstreaming.

Path to effective democratic participation, valuable opportunity for the disability movement, renewed interest from new government.
