CEE-Brazilian trade, however, has not yet achieved its full potential. Currently, CEE emerging econo-mies are experiencing an economic upturn with greater stability and growing GDP, which – com-bined with businessfriendly regulatory reforms – opens up outstanding opportunities for foreign investors.

GERMAN AND CEE COMPANIES

The Brazilian market provides abundant and unex-plored opportunities: not only is Brazil the world’s fifth largest country by population and has the world’s largest land reserves, but recent oil and gas finds also carry the promise of turning Brazil into an important international energy player.

Brazil is rapidly progressing from a developing nation to an economic powerhouse. Its influence in the global market is rising: An International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecast showed that the Brazilian economy would be the only BRIC country to grow more than at a precrisis rate after 2010. Strong external solvency and liquidity, a solid mac-ropolicy framework, greater fiscal flexibility and a well-capitalised banking sector have allowed the Brazilian economy to absorb the external shock of the global economic and financial crisis with relative ease.

The main reasons which make Brazil an attractive investment destination include demographic sta-bility, economic growth, strong domestic market, richness of natural and cultural assets as well as a clean energy matrix. Further, Brazil’s position as a net international creditor provides the country with the basis for solid economic growth in the medium run.

Moreover, Brazil is a technology leader in ethanol-driven engines and in offshore oil extraction and it is the world’s second-largest bio-fuel producer and the world’s largest bio-fuel exporter.

Last but not least, the hosting of the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics is recognition of Brazil’s increasing importance and will continue to bring necessary investments in infrastructure.
