My Story:
1692
Salem Witch Trials: My relative Gordy Martin, widow of George Martin was tried and executed for witchcraft. Puritan religion was not a central part of my ancestry, even though the family lived in Massachusetts from the early colonial period.
1697
Indian Raids in New England colonies. In 1697 my ancestor Hannah Duston killed 10 of her Native American captors and freed herself. She was the first woman in the America’s to have a monument. This shows the start of a long line of strong women in my family.
1720
The first Freemason Lodge in the America’s was founded, the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. My family members have been Mason’s for generations, including my grandpa who is still today. Many Mason values have been instilled in me.

The University of New Hampshire was founded as one of the early land grant colleges. Higher education has been important in my family even in the past. My great grandpa Mason and my mom also graduated from UNH.

The Boy Scouts of America was founded. I have been in scouting since first grade and it has taught me many things about camping, leadership and how not to organize a large group of people.
Rocky Mountain National park was founded. This is the place where I first was exposed to the beauty of our environment and especially elk.

Bombing of Pearl Harbor: My great grandparents and grandma were in Pearl Harbor when it was bombed, my grandmother still in the womb. He continued to serve and my other great grandpa and grandpa were also in the military.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was published. The Harry Potter story has been the story I have grown up with and has been a way to explore the themes of friendship, love, and good over evil.
