This week we saw Mondo added to the list of Cloudwater, Brewdog,
Unity, Forest Road and Crafty Devil from the UK, and Ballykilcavan
from Ireland. (There may be other UK Breweries signed up, but not yet listed on the website)
TWICB would like to strenuously encourage other UK Breweries to sign-up! It seems to us like a great
opportunity to do something for this worthy cause, and at the same time, raise your profile as a Brewery,
particularly in the USA.
We are confident these beers are going to be highly sought-after, when they hit the market in the next
month or two.
The excellent Good Beer Hunting published a thoughtful piece by Stephanie
Grant, giving a black person's perspective of drinking in the overwhelmingly
white US Taproom scene.

Sadly, this week, the US Brewers Association have announced a further 17%
reduction in their staff, bringing the total cuts to 35% this year. The BA relies
heavily on income from the goliath Great American Beer Festival as well as other
regional events, which have all been moved online this year, leaving the BA facing
an expected 70% reduction in revenue for 2020.
Cloudwater will be offering two tutored tastings this week, firstly with Matt
Tierney, head-brewer at The Veil (arguably the World's leading sour brewery)
on Wednesday 1st July, followed on Thursday 2nd July by Paul Jones
drinking through the latest four releases from the stupendous Crop Year
2019 Series.

AB-Inbev owned Camden Town Brewery, whilst not
Independent Craft Beer, and therefore not usually covered by
this publication, have attracted significant attention this week.
They have announced they are giving free kegs of their new
‘To The Pub’ 4% APA to UK pubs as they reopen. This will amount to 260,000 pints apparently. Whilst we
can understand that the pubs who receive free kegs will be grateful for the revenue boost, here at TWICB
we can't help feeling that this is 260,000 less pints that will be purchased from Independent Brewers.
AB-I will no doubt be hoping that this will be the start of a fruitful relationship between their pseudo-craft
brands and the UK pubs and taprooms. Our view is that, unless AB-I plan to give all their beers away for
free on a permanent basis, the great and the good of Independent UK Craft Brewers don't have much to
worry about on this front!

We all love our hoppy beers and probably can name some of our favourite hops. This rough and ready guide
lets you know the aroma and taste characteristics of common hops used in our favourite craft beers.
AMARILLO
Flowery, citrus, more orangey than grapefruit.
AZACCA
Spicy, tropical fruits, mango, pineapple and some pine notes.
CALYPSO
Fruity with notes of pear and apple.
CASCADE
Floral, spicy and citrus with balanced bitterness.
CASHMERE
Intense fruit, Peach, melon, lemon and lime with secondary notes of coconut, lemongrass, candy, and
herbs.
CENTENNIAL
Strong floral, citrus and grapefruit tones.
CHINOOK
Grapefruit, pine and spice.
CITRA
