Welcome to Brew Berlin, the platform for beer in bars. Founded in Oc-tober 2013, the new segment of the European Bar and Beverage Trade Show Bar Convent Berlin strives to bring together leading bar owners, gastronomes, and beverage retailers with innovative brewers and bre-weries.

Thus, Brew Berlin supports the roots of a new movement in beer in the German-speaking countries. Its main traits are unique and aromatic beer compositions, greater attention to product presentation and new ways of addressing target groups.

A bilingual blog by the authors of Mixology Magazine as well as a wide range of tastings, talks, and exhibits at the annual bar show Bar Con-vent Berlin itself are elements of the new platform for beer in bars. On top of that, Brew Berlin hosts regular industry MeetUps and networking events. With these means, Brew Berlin establishes an effective connec-tion between producers and bar owners.

The Bar Convent Berlin was founded in 2007 as a trade show and con-vention with a well-balanced mix of exhibition space and a wide pro-gramm of seminars and talks. In the last seven years, the annual event has experienced dynamic growth and has also expanded thematically.

While at the beginning, mainly spirits producers and distributors exhibited, soon soft drinks and bars equipment manufacturers joined in to use the Bar Convent as a platform for their businesses. In 2011, the integration of selected beer companies began. This part of the show was significantly upgraded with the introduction of the brand Brew Berlin two years later.

For the eighth edition of the European Bar and Beverage Trade Show, over 9000 international visitors are expected in Berlin. Our surveys have shown that 29% of all visitors see beer as a growing trend topic and would appreciate a growth of this segment at the show.

It’s import-ant for us to be there, if only to experience for ourselves the positive atmosphere and the growing interest of the visitors. BAr week Berlin

In the last years, a lot of related events have taken place around the time of Brew Berlin and the Bar Convent. In the beginning of October, Berlin becomes the Mecca of bartenders, gastronomers and beverage producers. The most important event to go along with the bar show is the Mixology Bar Awards Gala of the Bar Convent’s media partner Mixology Magazine.

It’s an annual meet up of the famous names of the German-speaking and international bar profession. There are over ten categories, i.e. bar, bar team, and mixologist of the year.

The gala tradionally takes place on the eve of the Bar Convent. This year, over 1500 guests are expected at the two venues of the official Bar Convent opening event.

»We have had the second successful year at the Bar Convent with our craft beers and have had excellent contacts with gastronomers, retailers and importers. With unique styles in beer like IPAs and stouts, we offer bartenders an alternative to industrially produced main-stream beer and an opportunity to surprise their guests even beyond cocktails and spirits. Our craft beers are growing in popularity at and behind the bar as a result of the Bar Convent.« – Timm Schnigula, managing director Crew Alewerkstatt GmbH
