Martin Butchers, Technical Sales Engineer, Smith of Derby;“We are proud once again to be working in collaboration with Bremont Watch Company and Donington Park. The design of the clock incorporates aircraft style fixers around the drum and bezels to reflect Bremont’s aviation DNA, and the support bracket of the clock was designed to emulate the wishbone suspension of formula racing cars, to reflect its location. We are delighted that it will be seen and enjoyed by race goers around the world.”

Christopher Tate, Managing Director of Donington Park Racing Limited;“The entire team at Donington Park is delighted to have Bremont as our new watch partner, and we thank them for their provision of this wonderful new pit lane clock. The design exactly matches Bremont’s fine range of watches, as well as matching the aspirations of the ‘new’ Donington Park, which combines its great history and traditions with also leading the way in new motorsport technology, as home to the FIA Formula E electric race car series, and as the 2015 home of the British Motorcycle Grand Prix, Moto GP.”

Donington Park motor racing circuit was the first permanent park circuit in England. Its first motorcycle race took place in 1931 on the narrow lanes of the Donington Hall Estate. In 1933 the track was widened, made permanent and became a venue for Grand Prix car racing. The Second World War put an end to all racing at the circuit in 1939, after being requisitioned by the Ministry of Defence to be used as a military vehicle depot.

Four decades on in 1971 Donington Park was purchased by Tom Wheatcroft, a successful local businessman who was passionate about motorsport and Donington from his early days, when he cycled to watch the pre-war motor racing at the circuit. During the War, Tom served driving tanks and upon his return to civilian life he set up a successful building business. Having made his fortune, his passion returned to motorsport. He sponsored drivers at various levels and amassed the largest collection of motor racing cars in the world. Now known as the Donington Grand Prix Collection, his racing car collection moved to the circuit soon after he purchased it, where it continues to grow.

Kevin Wheatcroft; “The circuit has a fabulous history that is an important part of Britain’s heritage, from the days of the pre-War Silver Arrows GP cars right through to modern times. The launch of the Bremont clock in pit lane is a further and important sign of our combination of British design and manufacturing skill, with the core passion for this sport.”

Christopher Tate sums up; “Since Kevin Wheatcroft and the new team took over at Donington in late 2010, we have made great strides forward - and this Bremont agreement is another key milestone of our intent, our philosophy and style.

In the past 12 months alone, we have continued our desire to match the best of tradition and history with modern era progress – as so well epitomised by Bremont. To name the key steps, we have brought the global headquarters of Formula E’s operations to Donington, all ten FE race teams in the all-new FIA electric racing formula; we have secured a landmark deal with The Racing School to re-locate here; we have promoted and managed twelve major international racing events; we have hosted one of Britain’s biggest rock festivals – and just last month, we were appointed the host circuit for Moto GP 2015, the return of the UK round of the World Motorcycle Racing Championship to Donington – we are moving forward fast.

We thank Bremont for their shared approach and their keen interest and look forward to a long association of two well-matched partner companies.”
