Brehm’s fully accredited, college preparatory curriculum includes traditional core subjects, plus technology, Spanish, athletics, and fine arts. Students advance at their own pace as they gain mastery of each subject within a multi-tiered, individualized academic program. Teachers work in unison with therapeutic and residential staff to develop executive functioning, study, and life skills.

Students also benefit from the latest assistive technology and software applications. Many students are also enrolled in the innovative Brehm Arrowsmith Program. A breakthrough learning methodology that uses intensive cognitive exercises to strengthen learning pathways in the brain, Arrowsmith is grounded in more than three decades of neuroscience research and experience.

Once admitted, a thorough analysis is conducted to determine each student’s unique needs, strengths, and challenges, which results in an Individualized Holistic Education Plan. Designed around the way each child learns best, this plan integrates cognitive, academic, social, and behavioral strategies into a comprehensive program designed to educate the whole child and unlock his or her potential for lifelong learning and fulfillment.

Brehm faculty are certified and trained in a broad spectrum of learning differences and the related social and psychological implications. Teaching staff has an average of 12 years in the development and delivery of curriculum for students with learning differences and many hold advanced degrees.

Specialists include five full-time, ASHA certified speech-language pathologists, registered nurses, and two Licensed Clinical Social Workers.

An average teacher-student ratio of 1:6 enables critical one-to-one interaction. Each student’s progress is continually monitored toward individual goals, ensuring they are provided the learning opportunities to meet or exceed the state and national academic standards required for college admission.
