How sin comes about

The very foundation of sin in man was birthed from rebellion against God- Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Temptation- James 1:13-15

Satan also brings temptation. He does so in 3 dimensions for he is the god of this world. 2 Corinthians 4:4; Luke 4:6

Jesus himself was tempted in 3 dimensions. 1 John 2:16; Luke 4:13

The devil never gives up – he switches and he runs to and fro – Job, 1peter 5:8 till he find what will bring you down…so we must stay up and be on guard too!

Why does temptation seem so attractive and powerful?

When is sin sweetest? II Timothy 2:22

Do we always have a choice to sin or not to sin?

When does temptation turn into sin?

The nature of sin It is seemingly sweet, it seems to offer better offers, solutions and

pleasure, it is easy and desirous to the flesh (not the spirit). It starts as a

temptation, luring, it drags and then knocks down, then accuses then asks

for a refresher, then enslaves then kills

Page 11: Break the power of Sin (Autumn 2012)

Our problem is not that we don’t know our sins. Our greatest challenge is

working out how to overcome them!

Magnifying SIN over GRACE by making sin the ONLY way out BUT 1 Corinthians 10:13

Deaden our Spiritual conscience - make those sins part of us such that we feel they are normal after all ‘I am human!

YOU ARE NOT STUCK – Romans 8: 12 - 17

This is the bottom-line:

FLESH VS. SPIRIT BATTLEOLD MAN VS. NEW MAN

Romans 7: 18-19; 24-25

In the end, one must win

Reasons for TemptationIt is a test of our loyalty e.g Job – How much do you love God? How much are you willing to sacrifice for Him? 1corinthains 10:13; 1 John 2:15

Your promotion is in temptations! How do you view them? Liabilities or Stepping stones, Jesus too was tempted. It is very risky and the rewards too are quite high.

Strengthen our weakness as a show of His grace and power.2 Corinthians 12: 7-10. He is able ONLY if we want HIM to and are ready to take the steps

Page 17: Break the power of Sin (Autumn 2012)

OVERCOMING SIN
