What It Do? My name is Yazmeen, but you knew that. Today I will be talking to you (my audience) about a topic
that is close to my heart; Break Dancing.
Break dancing started in the early 1970’s. In the Bronx New York.
African Americas gang members substitute violence with dance, and
would participate in “dance battles”.
The break dancing moves originated and developed from a James Brown move; “The Good
Foot”.
Old school breaking moves only consist of Floor Work or Floor Rocks, very
complicated leg movement. Some Head spins and Backspins.
Nowadays there is more of a variety when it comes to break dance moves. Such as Windmills, Broncos, L Kicks,
Gainers, etc.
“Ronnie Boy” Known as the best Bboy in the world. Member Do Super Cr3w.
Dominic “D-Trix” Sandoval.Former member of Quest Crew.
Battle: A challenge between an individual or group of B-boys or B-girls.
Bite: Stealing someone else moves or style.
Bboy: Bronx Boy Or Boogie Boy. Combination: When 2 or more moves
executed right after each other. Crew: A group of b-boys down with
each other.
Perfections: B-boys best moves, the move that takes opponents out.
Routine: Connected or executed movements done in a practiced sequence.
Street Dancer: Overall term referring to break, boogie and freestyle dancers.
I don't know how break dance, but I do know why people do it. Dancers B. Dance to let out
emotion and creativity. A lot of people don’t have the strength to move
like b boys do. I have high praise for the people who push
themselves to be able to do these tricks.
