Narrative structure

Themes - Food banks.- Benefits.- Poverty.- Children effected by poverty.- Britain in 2014.- Unheard voices – Children.

Camera work- Handheld camera work is used- Medium shot and medium close up are commonly used.- Wide shot is also used.- In the interviews in the interviewee is off centre and the rule of

thirds is used.- Observational footage e.g. when cooking, talking to the

council.- Sunrise/ sunset shots used to signify days.- Establishing shots used.- Dashboard cam.- Rosie uses direct address, this creates a slight self reflective

element to the documentary.

Mise - en - sen- Breakfast club.- Landscape.- Office room – food bank, advice centre.- Market.- Hospital.- Bedrooms – private space, low key lighting.

Sound- Voice over – female, standard English used.- Most questions edited out.- Music reflects the mood.

Editing - Cut is the most common edit.- Voices heard before the person is seen.- Montage shots were used of food banks and families.- Match on action was sometimes used- Some of the questions were not edited out which again

creates a self reflective element to the documentary.

Graphics- Facts and quotes appear in white on screen in a serif font.- Voice over gives us biographical information.
